Have to remember that SXSW is a tech expo... point is to show off new tech (which is why I wasn't surprised to see no Coco, Encanto, Indy, etc). Was a bit surprised to see no Walt animatronic...

true - though the title of the presentation was around World Building so guess they wanted to focus on the lands they are building and how the tech helps enable the worlds to be more immersive, etc

I'm guessing Starlight isn't using cutting edge Tech?

it's not in a land they are building though - the title of the panel was "the Future of World Building" - they only focused on things that were part of lands and how technology helps the immersion of them

so they didn't touch on things like the parade, the Walt animatronic, etc

I hear that Play Pavilion at EPCOT is coming along, just hitting a delay. I know Disney hasn't said anything about it in the last six years and the construction permits expired but I'm sure they're working on it.
That was confirmed by inside sources to be cancelled. We’ve heard nothing like that for the big thunder mountain movie.

Here to drink the tears of those who had so many expectations only to be let down. Again. 😂

So… this was mostly a nothing-burger. Shocking.

I don't think anyone was expecting anything major - must have missed all those posts

Figured we get a few small things - and we did: about the BDX droids coming to WDW, date for the new Falcon mission, Fantastic 4 meet and greet, etc.

Got some new concept art and animations for some of the rides (particularly the door coaster and the Stark Flight ride)

I would say slightly more than a "nothing burger" and about in line with expectations

It exceeded my expectations. I was expecting just 1 decently exciting thing.

That was the point I made earlier, though -- that's not something that typically happens for media projects.

Obviously it does happen sometimes, but generally movies that are in the works but never get off the ground just go away. The number of projects that were reported as in the works and then never happened without any kind of reporting around it dwarfs the number that were actually reported as cancelled.

I think that's partially because of the way the movie industry works; sometimes a movie falls off the radar for a decade+ and then somebody digs it up and makes it.

If I was betting, I'd put money on the BTMRR movie (at least as originally reported with those directors) never happening, but you never know.
