Jose's SSE GEMENI TRIP REPORT

Thanks for the video :king:

I'm wondering a few things, one thing, if you don't answer the questions fast enough, does the future thing get cut off if it reaches the end of the descent.

Also does it look like things were removed on the ending scene, or is stuff covered up? It seems like we went from a basic ending with abstract lights and stuff with the cronkite version, to an elaborate set of scenes with irons, and now back to a more basic ending.

The ending music sounds really great, I cant wait to hear it in person next year!

Since there is one screen per row and two people, whose face is on the future character, and what does the other person do while that one is hogging the touch screen?

Look at the curtains I guess:shrug:

The narration and show pieces compliment each other well. Some scenes were changed although sometimes slightly, to reflect the narration.

Also, when the refurbishment is complete, your face will be on the character, so everyone's will be unique. And, there are enough combinations for your future that it will take a while to go through all of them.

Oh ok, that makes alittle more sense. I still have to nag about it only being one screen though, like other people said it may get alittle hectic when people may want to ride by themselves or fight over who gets to choose. But at the same time, it can increase the re rideability, like I saw mine last time, and this time, we'll see yours, kind of thing. I still will have to be patient and see and hear it upclose and personal before I really complain or praise though.

so basically whereas horizons allowed all four people two choose an ending and majority ruled....now we have a personalized ending...but only 2 of the 4 people in the vehicle can even use it. Unless you do group work and settle on the answers.

That means I will have to temporarily knock my sister out...and hope she regains conciousness by the end of the ride because if us and our relatives are all in the vehicle she and I will deff not agree about the future. :hammer:

I dunno....without a touch screen for everyone I can see alot of people fighting over who chooses what answer as well as alot of forgeiners doing this  and yeah....

well at least rome is still burning since 1982

you can't reach a consensus with the person you are with? Have a short discussion? Give and take a little? you would think that 30,000 years of history could at least teach us to be able to get along with the person we are attending the theme park with.

Notice the buffer time when the screen gives a textual recap of the ride ("The first written communication was on: cave walls"). This allows the computer to synchronize the start and end of the video with pre-determined points in the ride. Thus, the video won't get cut off at the end. More than likely, if a guest takes too long to answer the questions, the video will start, reflecting what information has been gathered, and a best guess about the rest.

I must admit that I'm very surprised at the strong negative reactions towards the finale. Really, there wasn't much to look at during most of the descent in the Irons version of the ride. After "Glitter City," there was a good 3 minutes of nothing but fiber optics, with just a model of SSE hanging out in space. In contrast, the new version provides something to hold the guests' attention for nearly all of the descent.

Well they lost the classroom, the people talking to each other over video screens, the city and SSE globe, along with a lot of fiber optics! I'll only miss the city but I do think they should be replaced it with something (a projection of something would even satisfy me)!

The Mak, re-watched it, in HD (finally loaded), and there are two characters, thanks! As much as I want to hate the ending, being an animator myself, I just can't hate on 2D animation (even if it belongs in the post show and isn't hand drawn).

I have another question, does the face recognition tech take gender into account (if not, some people may leave the attraction feeling insulted)?

I've taken a couple more trips on Spaceship Earth. Some observations:
-They started letting Guests in at about 1625, and were still letting them in when I left EPCOT around 1710.
-The horse and chariot projection has returned in Rome.
-There was a line that disappeared since Thursday, where Judi Dench says "Thank the Phoenicians." I couldn't tell if anything else in the narration changed.
-My second trip today had an Imagineer sitting in the rear of the Time Machine behind me, with a keyboard and mouse pad plugged into it, working on it throughout the ride.
-Looking at the fixtures past where the glitter city used to be, seems to be a lot of the same fiber optic stuff that was there before, just not turned on. The sparkles that came out of the line that swooped around the Spaceship Earth model are still there and were on.
-I think the two children are static figures from the old finale. The boy looks like the one that was chatting with the girl from Japan (the old bedroom where the 60s computer room is now), and the daughter looks to maybe the Japanese girl he was talking to.
-Picking up on what Merf said, it looks like the picture of your face could definitely be superimposed into that video, the figures in it are kind of generic, without any specific reference to gender, besides the faces. It makes sense.
-There was also a nice new sign out at the beginning of the queue that reads "Welcome Aboard Spaceship Earth Join us on a re-Imagineered journey through time as we add the finishing touches to this EPCOT adventure Please keep in mind that we may need to close at any time... Official Reopening February 2008"

Some things definitely look a bit disapointing in this refurb but before we all get our panties in a wad, lets remember that its just a soft opening and for all we know it still may have a lot of work ahead before its officially open. Lets certainly voice where we think there are problems and hope that Disney is listening. But lets not all damn them all to hell before we know everything that's going to be there. I keep hearing reports that there's supposed to be much more to the ending. I certainly hope so.

I also couldn't hear enough of the narration in the video to really make a real idea on that. I'm still very dissapointed that it didn't turn out to be Patrick Stewart, but I think I can eventually get over it. Its just hard for me to get used to a female upbeat voice when I'm so used to the more somber and serious male voices of years past.

Agreed!

All reviews should be posted in the "SSE Reviews" thread as it's properly labeled for everyone (including Disney) to find.

Please move all reviews there.

Sorry for the delay. Went for a long walk while the second file was uploading (1.5 hours to upload).

It should be all up. I have some smaller videos of the outside and stuff I might post.

Did they leave in the "infinite gas clouds" starfield in the winding portion of the descent? This was to the right of the track in between the old classrom scene and the neighborhood vignettes.

Took me awhile to figure out what you were talking about but yeah, the kids in the touch screen look like the kids from the old finale! I was thinking you were talking about the kid lying on the floor in the TV room being reused from the scene that used to follow it (I feel stupid).

The kids in the animation look gender specific to me (the collar and color of their outfits)

With the lightning, no? That one small part is still there.
