Jon & Kate + 8 in WDW on last night.....any reviews?

I saw the episode. Here are my thoughts:

First off, I wouldn't take 2 kids to WDW under the age of 5 years-old let alone 8 kids. As soon as I heard that this is where they were going to take them I knew instantly it was leading toward headaches, temper-tantrums and tired adults. Since they stayed at the WL and all received monogrammed mouse ears as well as a card from Mickey I knew they had to have had this vacation given to the by someone else. Having said that I think they would have been a little more appreciative toward the mouse at times. The scene were 3 princesses met the kids on the lawn in front of the castle tells me that they received special attention and this was set up by someone important way in advance. The moment that bothered me most was when the mother complained, very loudly to everyone, about the "free" icecream that was served to them that melted on one of their children. Most parents bring along with them extra clothing for children that young knowing that messes do happen. She most likely got free clothing out of that one. The many CMs, photographers and characters that went out of their way to make this family feel special didn't get acknowledgement in my opinion. Maybe we just didn't get to see that part due to editing but I felt it was quite rude to be honest. The other part that bothered me was when she kept complaining about her camera. Knowing that she had a bad camera to begin with, why didn't she get another one knowing that WDW was an important vacation? She had no one to blame but herself. And she can't complain too much because after all her vacation was documented on video by a network. What average person get's that everyday?

I'm not a fan of the show because the parents are letting the twin girls run the family. It's dumb to film a family that has 8 kids where the parents aren't even the ones who are calling the shots. The girls cry and scream until they get what they want and the whole family has to go along with it.

All of this is my own opinion so please understand and respect my own take on the show.
I am fealing the same thoughts as you. I had never watched the show before. I only watched to see more of Disney and I would not watch it again.

My husband watched the show with me and had never seen "Jon & Kate Plus 8" before. I warned him that he would probably hate Kate and how she talks to her husband, but he actually found Jon to be more annoying. He complained about everything! I can't imagine what it must be like to drive that distance and do WDW with 8 kids but as my husband put it "I know it's hard, but man, he's spending more time complaining and he's missing the experience with his kids!" I know editing can make everything seem worse, but it seemed that he was annoyed by the whole trip.

Am I the only one who thought Jon (or a production assistant or someone)should have hopped the boat back to WL, gotten new shirts for the kids and been been back within a 1/2 hour? I mean, if it was THAT big of a deal?? It's not like they were staying off property or even far out like Coronodo or something -- they were just at WL!

In Indiana we have a set of sextuplets, the Dilley family. I remember the day they were born because the family was expecting 5 and one of the babies was hidden behind the mom's liver and was a total suprise. The family did get a lot of media attention (sextuplets are very RARE) and Disney did offer a complete trip to the family, as a gift. The family did take them up on their offer and went (eventually) to WDW. This Mom also took fertility drugs and this family has been given many gifts as well. I am happy that these kids (all of them) are healthy, happy kids.

I am a little dismayed at the jeolousy exhibted here in some of the posts. If this family has been given gifts, so be it. We all love WDW and we all would agree that WDW is a place for children and their families. What would you do if offered a trip to WDW, one that you know your children (who thru no fault of their own, happened to be born with many siblings) would enjoy, one you may not be able to afford on your own? Until you all walk a mile in their shoes it is best to stay out of their business.

I read somewhere once that you should not judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he wants to chase you and beat the crap out of you, he's a mile away with no shoes on. :D

I think you missunderstood, I did not mean what they had been given, but getting so much and asking for more. I was blessed with many family and friends with gifts for our wedding and for our kids and I would never post on my blog that I could use more.
It seems to some of us bassed on what Jon and Kate have said on the show and in interviews that they are asking for more and knowing that asking for more on camera will be granted.
It seems very often that Jon and Kate are looking for handouts. So it is not the gift that are the problem it is that they are expeceted.
That being said, I do think they do a great job and really seem to know each of thier 8 kids well and have thier needs at heart. I have seen other show about large familys on discovery or TLC and the kids seem lost in the mist and parents have a hard time saying any particlar about any one of thier kids. Jon and Kate are not like that at all.
