Agreed! Johnny makes all the movies come together. Of course, taking nothing away from the other characters, but it won't be the same without Depp if he leaves.

Because that event was before Dick Cook stepped down as head of Walt Disney Studios. The article stated that following the departure of Mr Cook, Johnny Depp started talking about being less enthusiastic about it. Maybe he really liked having Mr Cook in charge and without him there, he's less certain everything he feels needs to be done will be.
