Jo-Jo Character Dining

Don't waste your time. We just came back, and luck everyone in Disney, we were on the free dining plan. We decided to do alot of the character dining, because our son would enjoy it. We did the Crystal Palace again......FANTASTIC as usual. We did the Donald breakfast in Animal Kingdom...it was good....and we did the Jo-Jo lunch at Hollywood and Vine in MGM. IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! They said that the characters would come to the table. In 45 minutes, we only had one character come. My son actually got sick. This is the only time my son has gotten sick at a Disney Restaurant. We complained to our waitress about the fact that the characters did not come, and all she could do was make excuses, and they weren't good excuses. She tried to tell me that there was 2 sides of the restaurant and that's why it took so long. I told her that CP has 2 sides too and we saw the characters there twice in the same setting. She then tried to say that it was because they were dancing. I told her that they dance at the CP. Since, that didn't work, she tried to tell me that it takes 1 hour to see the characters. I then told her that we were there for 45 minutes and only saw 1, when were they other ones coming. I then talked to a manager, and told him that if we were paying for this, Walt Disney would here me from the grave, and that this was wrong. My son never did see Jo-Jo or Galiath. We will NEVER go back there. In all of the different place we went to, we have never had anything like this happen. I just wanted everyone to know about our experience at Hollywood and Vine. Thanks

Sorry to hear that you did'nt experience what you were expecting.

Out of curiousity, what did the Manager you spoke with have to say about your complaint about the issue? Did he offer anything additional to you as a "condolence" of sorts?

Again, sorry to hear you did'nt have a Magical meal.....

He said that he would talk to the character team. He did offer to get my son in to see the characters, however, my husband already took him outside. I wasn't impressed with the manager either.

Wow. We had lunch @ H&V with the characters on our last trip and our kids had a blast. The characters visited twice during our meal (about 45 mins.) and they truly made it fun. We were one of the first parties seated so the place was fairly empty when the first round of characters stopped by. The second time around, we were just finishing up.

Sorry to hear of your difficulties.

It can probably happen at any of the character meals and you had a bum day. We did Crystal Palace and we had to sit and wait for the last character to come by as it was taking so long.

We have eaten several times at both Chef Mickey's & Liberty Tree Tavern. We have had it where we saw each character only once, and where we have seen them many times. Liberty tree our first CM there we saw each character at least 3 times.

I think it depends on a lot of things. If there are a lot of tables with one kid it will go quicker than families with multiple kids as they all go up for a photo generally. Autographs, same thing. If everyone asks for autographs it will slow it up more than if people just do photos.

SO SORRY!!!! That's terrible. We had a great breakfast in July. Leo and June came by a few times and JoJo came by twice. Our only complaint was that we never even saw Golaith. We asked our server and we were told that normally ther are 2 but one was out sick that day and the one that was in the dining room needed a break. We too waited over 45 minutes. Our server told us that when Golaith was ready he'd come right to our table. After 10 minutes still nothing so we just left. Even after that it was still one of the best meals we had all week. The 2 little ones n our party had a fantastic time.
