Yes the SoA had to go for SWL, yet there was no reason Disney could not have redecorated Sunset Blvd with a new and equally impressive holiday light show.

Instead Disney rolls out this crapfest, Logical because the guests keep coming no matter what Disney cuts, But still a vast downgrade
Oddly, I don't seem to miss the Osborne lights too much. I liked the view they created, but couldn't stand the yammering narration that they had going on and on with the ludicrous decibels they blasted the Transiberian Orchestra at. Maybe I'm the real curmudgeon in my advanced years. However, I have to ask, did you actually go and witness the crapfest as you call it, in person? Just curious.

I don't think that the majority of people were aware that Jingle Bam was a Prep and Landing catchphrase so were expecting something more spectacular.

Wow I saw video on you tube it didn't look quite as awful as you are describing , it's Disney , I'm sure they will work on it it's a holiday show , Bah humbug much lately lol

Parts of it are fine, like the actual effects (as the lasers in the snow, some of the laser detailing on the facade of the Chinese Theatre) as well as some IP choices, such as Nightmare, but execution isn't there. The Prep and Landing characters feel shoehorned, and some of the choices on which things are projected onto the castle are very confusing -- like what's up with so much Aurora for the Christmas show, but the brief appearance of Belle in what is a far more Christmas-y film? I think everyone was disappointed in the Nightmare segment that came to be, as it uses a minimum of fireworks and includes almost the entirety of Oogie Boogie's song, which is probably better suited for a Halloween show.

It's probably not the worst fireworks show I've ever seen, but it might be one of the worst Disney fireworks shows I've ever seen. The show feels rushed, on a budget, and manhandled by strange creative choices and unfortunate marketing tactics. Remember, "It's Disney" doesn't always mean "It's Quality". Remember Stitch's Great Escape, The Tiki Room: Under New Management, Journey into YOUR Imagination, Light Magic, etc.

I suggest you watch the show in person - on film, you don't mind the lack of fireworks so much. You also have a focused view on some of the projections on film as opposed to being in the audience, where the actual projection work is a bit more confusing to follow.

Man... I don't know what's worse.
1) The fact I read these boards enough to remember @ford91exploder reviewing his trip last year and knew that off the top of my head (And I even think I recall him saying he stayed at AKL).
or
2) That you cared so much about trying to disprove someone that you went through hundreds of their posts to find that one.

Also, note: You don't need an AP to visit WDW.
Yeah it's called a search feature. It took about 30 seconds to find the quote since he brags about the last time he went pretty frequently. It's literally the little box at the top of the page and @ford91exploder and 2015. The quote I pulled is from the first page of results.

And you're right, you don't need an AP, but you do need some form of "admission media":

Like this quote...which was also on the first page of the same search:
But heck I haven't had admission media to WDW since August 2015 and will not be buying any in the forseeable future either.

I certainly was and I expected a bit more 'Prep and Landing' stuff than was actually presented, This is ANOTHER home grown IP Disney has failed to leverage.

Keep up the good work. I love when people are exposed!

It's called being dragged along by friends who wanted to see the 'Holiday Stuff' at DHS while we were in Orlando and we were staying at the Marriott Grand Vista. Disney was not my choice of places to go. Don't tell me you've never been dragged along by your friends sometimes you do what THEY want to do, Sometimes they do what YOU want to do.

Like I said there is a few hours of my life i'll never get back, And the visit reinforced why I will not be buying a new AP or any admission media in the forseeable future

Could you share them with us? I've always wondered why they only hang up the stars on the light fixtures there when they go pretty much all in on Hollywood Blvd.

As a sidenote, now would be a great year for a holiday overlay to Toy Story Mania or a Christmasy Rockin' Rollercoaster to help the corpse of a park they reside in. Literally anything would help at this point.

Even a "Bad Santa" M&G?

They could obviously add more decorations to sunset boulevard. They actually did just add substantially to Hollywood Boulevards decor package last year. They just couldn't do anything near the scale of Osborne lights on that street. Residential street and New York street were perfect for that for numerous reasons.
