That's not a gotcha, that is Jimmy's very point!

He makes this very point about people who criticise Mermaid and Cars Land at DHS for being clones, by kindly pointing out the great number of cloned rides everywhere in Orlando. For example, the Transformers ride, another clone, but presented as an example of Uni moving the market forward by many of the same people who criticise WDW for cloning rides.
It was certainly well played. Kudos, Mr. Thick

That's what I couldn't figure out about his Transformers comment. It's like, don't you realize the majority of MK consists of west coast clones? Especially our most beloved classic rides. But if it was an ironic point Jimmy was trying to make, he did it well (and not gonna lie, had me fooled).

While we're on the topic, I am surprised there would be people upset about Mermaid or Cars Land, simply because they are both out west. Sure, I get that some folks may be bitter towards Mermaid because it now sits where we lost a beloved classic (20k Leagues). But at least something is there...a ride...not a Pooh playground. While I haven't been on Mermaid myself in either CA or FL, it looks to be a good addition for both.
Cars Land I am stoked about coming to FL. Excited, yet not getting too hyped until we get the official word from Disney. But this would be perfect for DHS (imo).

Some more quickies...

* The new Fantasyland apparently is not open to the public...Unless you purchase one of Disney's late night parties, like the Halloween/ possibly Christmas party. It was open tonight once the non party people were swept away.

* I spoke too soon about the LeFous brew, had another one tonight and it was ALOT thicker that the one I tried earlier. I didn't mind it at all. The best way I can describe it is it like the Dole Whip, one will do you per vacation.

* Service at Coral Reef is superb, as is the steak.

* The queue at Buzzlightyear REALLY needs some love.

* Still did not see children peeing at Casey's.

* Saw Liverlips tonight, turned around and he was gone...

* At the Halloween party, don't know how some female costumes I saw should be considered family friendly.

More to come...

I don't get it either. How many people are really regular visitors of both US Disney parks? Never mind regulars of diferent parks on different continents? Outside of the concerns of fanatical followers with deep purses and many holidays, it is not all that important that rides are cloned between parks.

And even if I do visit multiple parks - me, I somewhat regularly visit DLP and WDW - I don't mind cloned rides between them. Also, I realise that cloning means huge savings on development and even production costs. Instead of a $250 million original, I'd rather have a $250 million clone with the quality of a $400 million original becuase it shared its costs between parks.

I find it a bigger problem that rides designed for one park often don't transit well to another park. Mermaid seems to fit on both coasts, but Cars Land feels like a natural fit for DCA, but a forced one for DHS. WDW does have a history of unfortunate Westcoast transitions. From Soarin' over California (they name should be a clue), to Splash - whose Southern bayou theme is a great fit next to New Orleans Square, but not in the MK's dry, desert southwestern FL. Rides are firstly designed for DL, and it shows.

Wonder why Disney customer service could be dropping to all time lows?

Might have to blame yourselves.

Saw a woman at Brown Derby tell the waiter her child was 2 years old, when it was blatantly obvious she was older. The server knew she was lying, I knew she was lying, but the woman kept to her story, rolled her eyes when the server kinda questioned her about, but ultimately, the server let her slide.

And that, is a shame.

Next time you get a plain white napkin or plain paper cup, thank the people who feel the need to beat the system.

Jimmy Thick- Repulsive, actually.

But sometimes, people are much younger than they look! Like myself, for example, I am seven but my mom let's me use her innernet an many people here think I am much older!!1

At sunday Scholl they thought me plain napkins are the work of Satan

I agreed with you...but just one thing...Splash isn't Southern bayou themed...it takes place in Georgia. The red clay and the briar? Georgia... sorry, just couldn't let that one slide :)

Maybe, but he is actually very right about that - there is no shortage of people trying to beat the system at WDW. "Complain until you get something free" seems to be everyone's attitude these days.

Agreed! People who want to try and beat the system because "we already paid a lot for this vacation" are a very large part of the reason that some things have to change. Bringing a souvenir cup from 2008 does not mean free refills folks!

Splash is vastly different in color pallete, tone and sound from DL to WDW. VASTLY.

Quickies...

* Whoever said attendance is down did not go to the parks today. At Epcot alone, to get some of that delectable sushi from the Japan kiosk you would have had to wait in a line from the American pavilion on one side, and the other side was down to Morocco. In fact, every single kiosk had tremendous waits. My advice, do food and wine during the week, avoid it on the weekends.

* Beautiful weather today, wish Florida was like this all the time, I would move here and become a "insider"...

* Hate to say it, but I prefer the old Tiki room...

* Citrus swirl rocks, I had 3.

* Need advice on taking a small child who don't want to do anything, take them to a character meal, that gets them into the Disney spirit.

* Was up to a 50 minute wait for Pirates today, never once did Imagination wait time ever change from zero. I think Disney needs to seriously make a change.

* First time I ever saw every single lot in the Epcot parking lot filled. Its like it was opening day.

* First time I ever saw the entire queue filled for Spaceship Earth as well, but surprisingly, it goes by pretty fast. Also, I really don't care for the new SE, the older version with Jeremy Irons was far superior.

More to come...

Wow...are these extreme crowds due to anything in particular? Sounds odd for this time of year. We have never had more than a 10 minute wait for POTC on any of our October/November trips.
