They had to totally rework the drainage system where Everest is going, in fact, it delayed a lot of the construction from starting on time. They had to reroute the perimeter road, a lot of detours and bumps, they were pumping water out day and night for months. The drainage system definitely needs to be replaced or repaired.

That's what happens when you try to save money and do it on the cheap. It will cost you a lot more money in the long run. But, of course, it will come out of a different budget then. But, I 'm not sure how that will affect the budget for new attractions, that remains to be seen.

i too have seen some majoy drainage pipe relacement in the park, bif 4'+ sized pipes... near the back of the parkinglot and all the way to the gard shack to the back road. thats where they stoped me :brick: lol.... i have to see if i can dig up some of the pictures i took. i contributed it to new drainage for EE...

Money shouldnt be a problem!

The only proplem is that 67 Million shouldnt be a big cost for Walt Disney World. They have so much money that you couldnt dream(so i have herd) the only problem is that there building Lites Moters Action and EE and those two rides/attrections would most likly be the cost to fix it! (what i want to kno is why it happened)

I might b wrong but i dont know.

Why for?

Speculation combined with psudo-insider knowledge, poor copy editing (I never heard of a "mute" point before, LOL), and a penchant for creating a story where none exists ("OMG! They changed a film between the time a script was written and the final product! Disney fans got robbed!"), that's "why for".

The child-like syntax is cute/clever the first few times you read it, but eventually you realize that without those little "trademarks" the content just really isn't there.

Why would drainage problems come out of the Attractions budget? Shouldn't it come from Facilities? Or another such division? Or is Eisner just trying to screw Attractions any way that he can? (Sorry, cheap shot)

My theory is that a majority of the budget cuts are from the fact that Mikey and some disgruntled Imagineers are building an evil giant robot to destroy the world called the Mecha-Eisner, which will be equipped with numerous guns and lasers for perfect city destruction.

Why would you weant to cut the budget and use material that is not rust prooof for piping for a park thatrs open 365 about days....

Shame on the project manager....

(i doubt this will mess up attractions..)

What we have here is a perfect example of some rumors that were started by some CMs or guests who were ignorant on the subject of construction, and saw a galvanized steel corrugated culvert pipe that was smashed on one end because an elephant walked on it, or a truck drove over it - then they told their best friend Cletus who told his uncle-dad Jeb who told everyone down at the factory which eventually spread to Jim Hill's 3rd cousin, twice removed and then to Jim - who used some elaboration and "creative license" to fabricate a National Enquirer worthy story.

All joking aside, I'm fairly confident that this is what happened. I am a Project Manager for commercial construction project, and work with engineers and architects on a daily basis. No matter HOW BAD a client wants to cut money out of the budget, an engineer or architect will not put their stamp on something that will not hold up or is a violation of building code. Corrugated metal pipe is NEVER used or specified for subsurface drainage - only for culvert pipes that run over short distances (like under driveways). Concrete is the standard, with cast iron or thick-wall PVC as a distant alternate.

There are far too many holes in this story to actually be true. If there is any validity to it, it stems from people who saw them digging up one culvert pipe and over-reacted and assumed the WHOLE system was bad. So many people know so little about construction practices and materials, but assume they know it all, that mistakes like this are made all the time. Silliness :p
