Jared Leto confirms new Tron movie!

I just don't see a big enough audience for this movie. The last one flopped at the box office.

It only got 399 million at the box office, which is well below breakeven. Thanks to it's 200 million dollar budget + advertising. It had to get at least 600 to 700 million.

Tron: Legacy only cost $170M in 2010. Back 15 years ago the threshold to breakeven was lower, at only 2X production budget. So it did actually breakeven during theatrical, add to that the $60M+ it made post-theatrical, plus the re-releases, and its more than broke even, at over $470M. So no it wasn't a flop at the box office.

We don't know the budget for Ares, but I think there is more audience there than you realize.

I used to work in the music industry as front line road crew, circa 2004-2011ish.

He was at SXSW when I was attending.

At one point, I was in a VIP-only area, inside a guestlist-only room, inside a building that was industry-only.

Jared Leto came in with his people and bodyguards as I was leaving, and he was a total jerk about nobody interacting with him or looking at him…

… in a space where nobody else had security with them, and everybody in the room was ‘somebody’, quite a few who were way more famous than him.

I mean, Mick Jones of the Clash was talking to Kirsten Dunst (she was dating the singer of Razorlight at the time) at the bar and Jared Leto just walked in like, “OMG people, look away from my glory!” and everybody in the room was like, “ok lol.”

On Corridor Digital, popular YouTube Channel for those that don't know. They were looking at the Tron Ares trailer this week and then got bummed out when they saw Jared Leto was in it.

Was that even a thing? I don't remember talk of them not using Leto, only that people don't like him. And that would be kinda foolish to think that the main actor wouldn't be used in the marketing.

Yeah, several posters said they’d be surprised (it was in another thread) if Disney even used him in marketing given recent allegations of a cult.

Posts might even be deleted by now, dunno. Anyways I can’t imagine he’ll be hidden for a majority of the movie. He seems to be the focus, so I imagine he’ll be front and center in most scenes.

Yea they really don't have much of a choice. At this point you just have to roll with it. I'd say it was questionable hire at best. But there's no turning back now. Who knows, maybe he'll be good.

I haven’t seen all his work, but what I’ve seen I’ve been ok with or even liked. For example he wasn’t bad in Blade Runner. So yeah I have hope he’ll be good.

Well since “spoiler” Tron is at the bottom of the “ocean” as of the last movie we don’t know his exact status. But since Bruce Boxleitner wasn’t involved I’d have to say no, unless it’s either a well kept cameo secret or a none speaking cameo.
