January

We usually go in the fall but I looked into it too late this year and all the resorts I wanted and for the dates I wanted are unavailable. So, we were thinking about the last week of January. I looked into it and it is cheaper then but have concerns about ride closures for updates and colder weather. Anyone ever been there in January/February?

We were there January 2016. I will say the prices are a lot cheaper and we did get a great deal but we will never go again during that time. I hated to be in Florida wearing my winter jacket to the parks. Everyday we went (except 2-the day we arrived was 63 degrees and AK day was 70) didn't get higher than 55 degrees. We had to carry our winter coats with us the entire day. The ride closures honestly were not that bad. Splash mountain was open but no one rode it. Kali also was closed but it was just too cold.

I have been in various points in January. We have found it to be generally wonderful and enjoyable, but crowds and temperatures can fluctuate a lot and depending on your tolerance level, it can either be awesome or annoying.
Keep marathon and MLK holiday dates in mind as crowds will be different. You should be close to clear if you go towards the end of the month.

Pay veeeery close attention to the weather/temperature forecast up to the day before to know how to pack. The lowest temps we've had in Mid-January was 30s for a few days. Yes, that did happen. That same week long trip, we had 70s.
Prepare for the possibility of some rehabs. Splash is the biggest offender which is usually closed in January (one reason why we don't entertain January trips as often!) but this year, it's getting refurbed August-November so that will be open.

Overall, it's a great time to go. Especially a nice time to escape the oppressive humidity and heat Lake abuse a Vista has to offer at other times of the year. Happy planning!

I've been in January 3-4 times, going back this January. I LOVE the weather, coming from upstate NY chances are the weather is 100x better in Orlando, even if it's only 60 it's better than 20 and snow. Low crowds & not a sweltering hot week make for the best time to go in my opinion!

January is a great time to visit the parks! It can be a bit brisk, but the crowds are extremely manageable (provided you avoid marathon weekend).

Gee, January makes it tolerable to live in Florida. Love January.

Can you wear a lighter weight coat? We've never needed anything heavier than a heavy sweater or hoodie. And always layer. We go over MLK weekend and many days we're in jeans/shorts, t shirts and flip flops.

If I remember, isn't Splash typically closed for refurb at that time of the year?
