January 2009 Booked?

Although it is last minute, we are desperately trying to get into a Value Resort during mid-Jan 2009, but apparently all four of the Value Resorts are completely booked! Has anyone ran into this problem before? Should we just keep checking the online system and keep calling the reservation line in hopes that something opens up? I mean of all the rooms in the 4 hotels something has to open...right?

(In any case, I guess the start of the Buy 4, Get 3 promo is working.)

All of the suggested date ranges include MLK's birthday on the 19th, which is a three-day weekend for a lot of people. That is probably why nothing is available. And remember, the discounts are only allotted to a limited number of rooms, and once they are gone they're gone.

While I'm sorry that the OP can't find a room, I'm glad to see that WDW is full and that the talk of 35 per cent occupancy is false. This means less cutbacks and scale backs as to future additions - I hope.

I'm not sure that would mean the parks are full. I wouldn't be surprised if some blocks indeed are shut down. I don't equate unavailable with sold out. I'd be (kinda - I wouldn't be disappointed with lower crowd levels for the experience of it) happy to be wrong about that, but ...

I just spent a good 20 minutes trying to find rooms for Jan. 30 and Feb. 6-9. The overnight is a stop on our way to Miami for a cruise; the weekend stay is a stop on the way home. :D Pop was unavailable through that entire timeframe, and all the values were unavailable during the February dates. Lots of resorts - all categories - were either unavailable or only had specific room types available - suites, etc.

I finally got a room for Jan. 30 at Coronado for $100 (passholder room-only rate) and a suite :)eek:) at Saratoga Springs for $604. I'm pretty happy with those rates. I've never stayed at either of these resorts before, so I'm really anticipating it.

Good luck on getting something!

Just thought I'd let you know how it all turned out...

After all the value resorts were unavailable and no standard rooms at any moderate resorts, we had the limited choice of a water view room at Caribbean Beach or a water view at Coronado Springs.

Since we just stayed at CBR during our last visit, we thought we would try Coronado. Ended up getting a water view room for 7 nights, and (2) 8-day park tickets for something like $1,250, and will receive a $200 gift card at check-in.

Im going to keep trying to see if something should open up at a value resort (although the chances seem slim) and we can change the reservation for a $50 fee. So I did learn in the future when these promos become available...book early!

Hopefully we'll like Coronado Springs - loved Caribbean Beach. Seems similar...Any opinions on it?

I tried in Nov. for a vacation club resort for an early 2009 stay. I was told there was nothing for stays over 2 nights in any of the resorts for Jan. Feb. and Mar.. The only opening was at Saratoga for limited weeks. I was told I could split my stays bettween resorts. So much for the slow time of year.

Are you saying the values weren't available at all or just weren't available with the 4/3 promotion?

Everything that I mentioned was unavailable as far as the Buy 4, Get 3 promo was concerned. I don't know if they were available otherwise.

I used the "room only" price code(OZI) and got Pop Century Jan 23-27th for $360 for a preferred room. Which was 10 bucks less than booking a standard room with out the promo code. But I had to check on a daily basis to see what came available. The Travel CM said there are only so many rooms alotted for the promotions, which many people have eluded to already...

Just keep checking, would be my 2 cents...

The dates we are trying for are Jan. 13 - Jan. 20 (a Tuesday to Tuesday).

...called again this morning, and still nothing.

I know you have this resolved now, but this is from the Disney website:

Sample 7 Night Package at a Value Resort as low as $1271 including 7 Day Theme Park tickets
For stays most nights between 1/4-1/9, 1/19 -2/12/09
Offer valid for most Disney resorts and other lengths of stay at varying rates for stays most nights 1/4 - 1/12, 1/19 - 4/4 and 4/19 - 6/27. Book through December 20, 2008!

So your dates of January 13 - 20 were not all included in the offer, only January 19th and 20th were. Just thought I'd point that out.

I just booked a trip with the 4 day, 3 free thing for January 11-17 at Pop Century. I had been trying to get January 11-18 because I thought you had to stay 7 days, but I realized the promotion works with less days too as long as you stay at least 4. Even though those dates are not included in the dates on Disney's website, it worked anyway.

We are staying at Pop 1/16 - 1/24 and we booked 2 separate packages, one for my parents, one for my husband and I. When the 4/3 package came out, I called with the code, and they gave me the promotion (it saved me $600) but then on the same phone call, literally 5 minutes later, I gave them the code for my parents package (they are staying 3 days shorter than us) and there were none available. So I felt bad and offered my parents me $200 gift card, but they said no lol. So seeing we are on the dining plan, and it doesnt include tips, I'm using my $200 g/c to pay all the tips for them. Just a little help I guess lol.
