Exciting news. Will definitely be interesting to see where they are going to put this new area.

This is some good news. 
I wonder if there is anyone out there that knows what areas they toured?

#1 - Unused Australia section.
#2 - Camp Minnie Mickey
#3 - Dinoland USA
#4 - Expanded border of AK
I'm going for #1 since CMM is too small to house $500M worth of space, Dinoland is too much hassle to remove and an already established "land" in the park (more-so than CMM), and I'm not sure they would be willing to break open the AK borders to add more park space.
I wonder if there is anyone out there that knows what areas they toured? Place bets now?

I am very pleased to hear Joe Rohde will be involved with the project, hopefully he has a sneaky peak at Everest and sees the current state of it.
Im sure Mr. Rohde is well aware of the state of Everest.

Possible proof that this may mean several changes to DAK as part of this development such as reconfigurations and/or moving, adding to, or even eliminating some existing attractions to create a better theme park overall. Not that it is bad now but it could be more like DisneySea in the long term IMO.

That's the optimism I like to hear! Since they have announced this that has been my thought as well. We have great minds working on this project and a big budget. I have no doubts that this will be incredible.

Jim Hill has stated that the area where Camp Minnie Mickey is, is where Avatar is going and that the spot north of Asia is being held aside for a Panda exhibit once Shanghai is done. He stated that Festival of the Lion King is scheduled to stay in its current spot but everything else would be taken over by Avatarland, and possibly even Rainforest Cafe, which would be relocated.

Agreed! I just hope we get a 150-200 million dollar super E-ticket for this land. I really think they will go all out on one ride and create a completely groundbreaking attraction with a new ride system never seen before to counter Potter. Which is what this land needs. They need a ride so mind blowing people go home talking about.

They have some of the best minds in the business working for them. I mean after all, "Disney set's the standards which all others follow" (Modern Marvels: Walt Disney World)
To be honest, I'm about as excited to see what the eatery looks like in here. Chances are, it will look like Rainforest Cafe but with Pandora fauna and creatures and sounds.
