Potential La Nouba replacement?

From Variety:

Daniel Lamarre, president and CEO of Cirque du Soleil announced the details of the show, which will debut in late 2015, Thursday in Montreal during the international business C2MTL– Commerce + Creativity Conference.

Twentieth Century Fox, the financier and distributor of “Avatar” and its planned sequels, will act as a partner on the live show, as will Jon Landau’s Lightstorm Entertainment.

“Avatar remains a phenomenon that continues to inspire people around the globe, and combining it with the live event ingenuity of Cirque de Soleil is a perfect synthesis of imagination and talent,” said Jim Gianopulos, 20th Century Fox’s chief, in a statement.

The live show is expected to debut before the first of three announced “Avatar” sequels is released. Cameron is currently in pre-production on the follow-up.

“Over the years, I have discovered the extraordinary talents and imaginations of both the artists and the creative forces behind Cirque du Soleil,” said James Cameron in a statement. “I know we share the common goal of bringing audiences to another level of entertainment experiences. I look forward to doing just that on this project.”

The 2009 film grossed $2.7 billion worldwide, and still stands as the highest grossing film of all time, followed by Cameron’s “Titanic.”

“Our relationship with Jim Cameron began with my visit at his ‘Avatar’ cutting room,” Lamarre said in a statement. “I am thrilled that almost 5 years later, Cirque du Soleil will be able to explore the very inspirational ‘Avatar’ realm for the live stage. This will mark our second creative project with Jim and I believe it will be as stimulating for both our creative forces.”

A post on Cirque due Soleil's instagram says that the show will be an arena-touring show. So, at least for a few years the show won't replace La Nouba or be built at AK. Although it would be cool if one of their traveling shows like Varekai or Ovo were retired to Animal Kingdom (and came with admission or at a package deal).

It's 2.5 years away. Movie dates constantly change and this isn't even official yet. Both studios would be dumb to open against these movies against each other.

I agree who wins in that battle, both sides lose tickets sales to the other. Unless stupid pride gets in the way they should open separately.

Mouse House needs to give Alice in Burtonland 2 the boot. Star Wars needs to open in MAY. MAY.

Why the HELL are they setting the new Star Wars movies up for December releases? THAT IS SACRILEGIOUS.

EDIT -- Also, that guy dressed like an Avatar on that link looks like Blue Rocky Dennis.
