Jamacia or Aruba

I am so excited! We are going to the CBR in May 2004!!!:sohappy: We have never been to the CBR and I am wondering which area is better to stay at. I know Martinique and Trinidad are the closest however, they will be charging an extra $15 a nite to stay at these locations.
I was looking at the map and it looks like Aruba and jamaica are the next closest. Has anyone stayed at these locations? Which rooms would you recommend?
Thanks for all your help!

Caribbean Beach is an awesome resort! Although it can be a little inconvient, just depends how much you use the big pool, gift shop, straw market, etc... We always use to stay at Port Orleans-French Quarter, but then they had been closing it for "refurbishment" the last 2 years, so we stayed at Caribbean Beach in Barbados. This one was the closest to the check in desk and its bus stop was close. (all the islands have their own bus stops) but this one wasn't a long walk at all because we stayed on the side directl;y across from it. I am going again in March and we are staying in Trinidad South. Both Trinidads are directly in the middle of the resort and closest to the big pool. (each island have their own little pools as well) But otherwise, between Aruba and Jamaica, id pick Jamaica because USUALLY that bus stop comes before Aruba...that all depends on which way the buses come in, but 8 out of 10, they go Jamaica first. :)

I think most people consider Trinidad South to be the farthest away.

I've never stayed at Trinidad South, but have at the others or visited there.

It takes about 5-10 minutes from Barbados, Aruba, and Jamacia depending on your pace. Trinidad North and Martinique take about 5 minutes tops depending on location of your building.

We stayed in Aruba, in a building close to Jamaica, and loved it. Beautiful little walk across the bridge and there you are :) I'm sure we'll eventually do CB again and when that happens, we'll definitely be requesting a room in that area.

My wife and I honeymooned at Jamaica in 99. We totally loved staying there. Jamaica seemed really quiet and peaceful without a lot of traffic of the main pool. When we wanted to go to the food court, it was a short walk (less than 5 minutes) across the bridge to the main pool and the food court. Nice scenery too with the water and the birds and trees and stuff. Plus it is the first bus stop. So you get on an empty bus in the morning to hit the parks and you're the first off when you're coming back at night...

I am obsessed with Caribbean Beach. Jamaica and Aruba are both beautiful island areas, but I think Aruba has the slight edge over Jamaica. For starters, it overlooks the most colorful portion of the Resort from across the lake, the marina, lighthouse, pool and foodcourt. Jamaica sees Trinidad from across the lake, still beautiful tho.

But both locations are phenomenal, and are a quick and beautiful stroll across 2 wooden bridges connecting an extremely tropical island. You WILL love it.

We've been in Aruba 52 building at least a dozen times. (non smoking)

Both great, and I am a little upset we are staying at Yacht Club this trip in lieu of Caribbean Beach. But I must learn to try new things...but CB has my heart, hahaha!!

I would highly suggest Aruba, although both that and Jamaica are about the same trip over to the OPR and are lovely to look at. Like Surfsupdon stated, Aruba has the better view, and from staying there last trip, it has almost replaced my love for staying @ the Martinique. I recommend corner rooms that are in even buildings (due to non-smoking pref), w/ a garden view, but that is just me. If you don't mind the walk, and appreciate tropical scenery, then go for that isle. :)

My vote is for Aruba room 5349. That is a corner room, which means it has more windows for you to look out. It only took us about 5 minutes (if that long) to get the food court. We thought it was very convient. In fact, when we return this upcoming summer, we will put in a request for room 5349 again.

I stayed in Aruba in 2000 and it was lovely, short walk across the bridge for the shops and food and yet still a bit out of the way.

Have a great trip!

And if you really want an excellent water view room, thouigh more expensive, request ARUBA 5257--5262. It has one of the absolute BEST views of the lake and opposite side and parrot cay island...completely unobstucted. (You can sometimes request water view and get a room facing the water but with a grove of palm trees in front of your balcony, only seeigng the water between fronds.) Therefore, if you want the best of Aruba, go for my reccomendation. And dont worry, we ahve our specific location alrerady booked during our time period so you wont be stealing anything, haha.

We stayed in room 4525 in the Jamaica section when we were there in June. Building 45 is the closest to the bridge and 4525 is the closest ground level room to the bridge. It was ideal. Stepping out our door we had a beautiful view of the water, the beach and the island. We were close to the pool and food court (right across the bridge) but not "too close" if you know what I mean. It also wasn't far from the parking lot. I thought it was the perfect location. Aruba also has a building that is just as close (51 or 52 I think).

Jamacia it is

Thanks for replying so quickly. A friend of mine hooked me up on this site and I love everything about it!!

It seems like both areas have great qualities. I think we will stay at Jamacia this time and Aruba the next. There will always be a next.

That was an easy solution wasn't it?

See you at the beach!

Hey, I got my signature to work. I am soooo Happy, just like those little guys. (The Dwarfs of course)

which area is the best compromise for bus pickup and proximity to the central food court?

also - i heard about faxing in a room request... is this still possible? I'm heading down on the 13th and I'd like to try to specify a room location beforehand.

YAY!!

Congrats on Jamaica. It is great with superb views! A super Resort, CBR is, if you ask me!!!

Side note--anyone stay at CB and use the INTERNAL shuttle to get to Old Port Royale?? Like you think the walk is too far? B/c there are a few on it, and I think that totally ruins the ambiance of the festive island atmosphere--why take a bus? (when in decent health, of course):xmas:

Jamaica is usually the first bus stop to be picked and the first to drop off but it's somewhat of a long walk to Centertown and the big pool. But, overall, I enjoyed Jamaica.
