Knighthoods are often 'rewards' for businesspeople, so this shouldn't be a huge shock given he spent so much time running the world's largest entertainment company that I am sure splashed a lot of money around the UK. I think this is probably more typical of who gets a knighthood than the Elton Johns we all focus on.

I thought Pooh in the park would be enough given the Queen's connection?

At every party I’ve been to with him, he always tells the story about the one time he revolutionized the design of Radiator Springs Racers by suggesting they add more trees.

Now, it‘s going to be all “Did you ever get the chance to meet the Queen? Because I did. I am a Knight, you know.”
Actually he wouldn't have. There was no investure, as she died shortly after the list was updated. It'll be Charles (or maybe William) who will do the ceremonial part which actually confers it all.

I think he got it for all the movies Disney have made in the UK over the past few years. Steven Spielberg got one for making movies here as well. Not sure why John Williams got one, maybe because he works with British symphony orcestras?

Or maybe he got it for turning Prince Harry down when he tried to get his wife a job from Iger at the Lion King premier 😂 https://www.express.co.uk/news/roya...isney-bob-iger-latest-royal-family-news-video

if you aren’t a commonwealth citizen you can’t use your title or ‘get knighted’ with a sword you just get the medal. If you were a commonwealth citizen you get to call yourself sir, with a lady title for your wife and het other random privileges like the ability to get married in st pauls cathedral in London.

As I understand it, non-British people are given "honorary" knighthood rather than "real" knighthood. Though I have to be honest, I don't know what the difference is since I think of knighthood as being an honorary thing anyway. Perhaps I'm just ignorant of the specifics.
If you want to joust you have to be a knight. At least that's what I learned from A Kinght's Tale.
