... and we're just living in it.

This is too funny not to share. A friend of mine dug up an old video from back when AK first opened, and we posted it over on parkeology.com. Basically, somebody gets caught with their pants down, and Joe Rohde is involved! Oh, the scandal...

I guess when you're the lead designer of one of the best theme parks in the world, you can do whatever the heck you want.

Looks almost like he was experimenting to see if others would end up doing the same, as if he was looking for the lemmings to fall in too!

i guess it isn't too late to say "say it ain't so joe!". but it looks like there was plenty of questions to be answered after the possibilities of potential slip and fall cases, along with other issues were measured to trigger the changes in the fountain.

Not old, just vintage.
Thanks to this thread I now have an answer to something that has been bothering me for years. I visited AK about 2 weeks after the park opened and rode CTX of course. I didn't got back until at least a year later and was so confused about what had happened to the fountain area. I swore that it had once been an actual fountain with real water and everything but I couldn't find any photos I had taken to support my theory.

Over time I just accepted the fact that my memories from 1998 were wrong and that it had been a planter all along. For whatever reason I never bothered to search the internet or ask around to find out the truth. I am now somewhat relieved to know that I'm not completely insane in thinking that there used to be a fountain there!
