I will admit up front that I am a trip report stalker. I love reading the stories and seeing the pictures. When I'm having a rough day I just grab a cup of coffee (during kids nap time of course) pop open my lap top and pick a report to read. It's so....calming.
Anywho, after much dreaming my moment has finally come. My first pre-trip report. It has been a whopping 15 YEARS since I went to Disney World. Add to that that I've only been there once for my honeymoon and you can see why I'm chomping at the bit to go to Disney.
I started planning this trip about 17 months ago (longer if you ask my hubby all the times I've bugged him about going over these last 15 years). I really wanted to head back to the place we honeymooned 15 years ago. I also really wanted to take our kids, DS (6) DD (5) and DD (not yet 2), there when they were little. I want to see the expressions on their faces when they see each character for the first time or see the excitement on their faces as we approach the Magic Kingdom park.
I'm such an emotional ball of excitement about this trip that when I pop into our local Disney Store to pick up odds and ends for this trip I just about start to cry when I see the commercial they have on of parents surprising their kids with a trip to Disney...I know I'm nutty!!!
My kids are really psyched about it! We have a Disney countdown on our wall that started 17 months ago. Here is the countdown.
Here is where we started.
Here we are today. :sohappy:
My family got a real kick out of my countdown...especially when it started out at 17 months to go and I didn't have any reservations made!
I am a procrastinator so I have not yet planned which parks we are going to on which days. I am happy to report that I do have the meal reservations...and want to thank everyone's trip reports that I read in helping me decide the best places to eat. I want to give a quick shout out/note of gratitude to Hollybelle because I stalked everyone one of her reports!! Her food pictures were yummy (and I must give credit to the wonderful narration of her reports).
We'll be flying out May 6th and returning on the 13th. I was thrilled to find out that our local airport has direct flights to Orlando so we wouldn't have to bother with transfers. I hate transfers and can't imagine doing it with 3 little ones.
We are staying at the All-Star suites. This is our first time on Disney property. When we honeymooned we stayed off site and I have to say that the whole trip the both of us wished we had stayed "in the magic". So, with that in mind and the fact that we wanted two rooms for the kids that needed a mid-day nap, we settled on the suites.
Well, I was happily surprised when I got my mail today to see our family's Disney packet!! Thank you Tammy from Kingdom Konsultants! She has been a huge help with getting this together. I actually chose using Tammy because, like Hollybelle, Tammy had awesome trip reports that lured me in. Her reports were great and really made my decision about where to book my trip...so a great big thanks to Disney Falcon!!
Well, that's it for now. I hope to have some sort of schedule some time soon. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for reading along!!
