It's Almost Time To Go Pre-Trip Report

I will admit up front that I am a trip report stalker. I love reading the stories and seeing the pictures. When I'm having a rough day I just grab a cup of coffee (during kids nap time of course) pop open my lap top and pick a report to read. It's so....calming.

Anywho, after much dreaming my moment has finally come. My first pre-trip report. It has been a whopping 15 YEARS since I went to Disney World. Add to that that I've only been there once for my honeymoon and you can see why I'm chomping at the bit to go to Disney.

I started planning this trip about 17 months ago (longer if you ask my hubby all the times I've bugged him about going over these last 15 years). I really wanted to head back to the place we honeymooned 15 years ago. I also really wanted to take our kids, DS (6) DD (5) and DD (not yet 2), there when they were little. I want to see the expressions on their faces when they see each character for the first time or see the excitement on their faces as we approach the Magic Kingdom park.

I'm such an emotional ball of excitement about this trip that when I pop into our local Disney Store to pick up odds and ends for this trip I just about start to cry when I see the commercial they have on of parents surprising their kids with a trip to Disney...I know I'm nutty!!!

My kids are really psyched about it! We have a Disney countdown on our wall that started 17 months ago. Here is the countdown.

Here is where we started.

Here we are today. :sohappy:

My family got a real kick out of my countdown...especially when it started out at 17 months to go and I didn't have any reservations made!

I am a procrastinator so I have not yet planned which parks we are going to on which days. I am happy to report that I do have the meal reservations...and want to thank everyone's trip reports that I read in helping me decide the best places to eat. I want to give a quick shout out/note of gratitude to Hollybelle because I stalked everyone one of her reports!! Her food pictures were yummy (and I must give credit to the wonderful narration of her reports).

We'll be flying out May 6th and returning on the 13th. I was thrilled to find out that our local airport has direct flights to Orlando so we wouldn't have to bother with transfers. I hate transfers and can't imagine doing it with 3 little ones.

We are staying at the All-Star suites. This is our first time on Disney property. When we honeymooned we stayed off site and I have to say that the whole trip the both of us wished we had stayed "in the magic". So, with that in mind and the fact that we wanted two rooms for the kids that needed a mid-day nap, we settled on the suites.

Well, I was happily surprised when I got my mail today to see our family's Disney packet!! Thank you Tammy from Kingdom Konsultants! She has been a huge help with getting this together. I actually chose using Tammy because, like Hollybelle, Tammy had awesome trip reports that lured me in. Her reports were great and really made my decision about where to book my trip...so a great big thanks to Disney Falcon!!

Well, that's it for now. I hope to have some sort of schedule some time soon. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for reading along!!

I am so excited for you!! Please enjoy every minute and don't worry about anything else!! I hope you and your family have a magical vacation filled with love and memories!!

You were in the May 2011 countdowns on here before I was, IIRC. Nice dedication :) Your (real-life) countdown is ADORABLE. I hope you have a wonderful time and look forward to the report!

How very exciting!!! I can't imagine going 15 years between visits to the World. You're kids will love it!! I can't wait to have kids of my own to do a fun "countdown to Disney" thing as you have!! Cant wait to read the trip report when you come back. Me and my family will be there April30-May 8th so we will just miss you

Wow, that's great, your excitement is contagious! I love your countdown calendar.

We honeymooned at WDW, too, and returned for our 10th anniversary the same year you honeymooned!

We've been fortunate to get to go back every year since then, because during that trip, while standing in line for Peter Pan's Flight, my husband looked around and around, clearly soaking in all the Fantasyland/WDW atmosphere, and sighed, "I wish we could come back here every year!".

I look forward to reading more!

Yeah, I was on the May 2011 real early!!! I think it was just me and one other person in the beginning.:) I just couldn't wait.

Thanks about the countdown. Back when we were counting down the months, the kids couldn't wait to get to the "hidden Mickey" day on the calendar because they would get a piece of candy and we would talk about our trip.

When are you going?

The funny thing is that we already are talking about going again in 2 years with some of my family...how about that!

I love your profile picture! If I remember correctly that's the 50's Prime Time Cafe??? My hubby and I ate there on our honeymoon and we LOVED it! The atmosphere is so much fun there...except that our "mother" kept calling me and hubby brother and sister :ROFLOL:.

I hope you have a great vacation!!!

Thanks about the countdown calendar...I have to admit it was a lot of fun to make!!

That is so cool that you get to go back every year! That's wonderful that your husband enjoys it just as much as you. I'm hoping now that we have 3 kids, we'll be going much more often.

I am so happy for y'all! Make sure you get the kids "1st Visit" buttons from Town Hall in Magic Kingdom. They will get extra attention from cast members who notice they are wearing them. The buttons are one of the few free things at WDW! I look foward to your trip report. I have annually visited WDW with teens for a decade, now, but next year I will be taking my 7 year old niece. Your report will help me plan!:D

Thanks for the tip! I will do that!! That's really cool that they have 1st visit buttons. We are also going to celebrate my daughter's 2nd birthday while we are there. She'll be 2 two days after our vacation.

I can't wait to go and am excited to write my first trip report.

Yay! You are very welcome! It's almost time!! :sohappy:

I can't wait. Thanks again for all your help Tammy!

Me too! :D I do the exact same thing. It makes me feel better to live through others' Disney experiences, especially when I don't have a trip The World planned!
