It's A Kinda Magic!

My first trip was in my early to mid elementary school days, so I don't quite remember my first trip all that well. I remember watching Fantasmic! and being completely into it. I remember the first time I saw the castle, too. We have a picture of us right in front of it for the first time. But I don't think as a child I truly realized the magic. I thought it was a cool place that I loved, but I didn't notice all of the detail and storylines to the attractions. But I can say that I have realized the magic, even though I didn't start off with a 100% full magic tank. ;)

My first time at the parks was only 8 years ago and it was in July. My first park was Animal Kingdom, my first memories were wow its hot and why are all those people wearing the same color shirts and cutting me in line...but I got past that and I've been to WDW every year after that.

I was 2 when I first went so I don't remember much. But I do remember when I was 3 & my favorite thing in the whole world was Mickey's Starland because I loved Talespin (still my favorite show) & my big sisters favorite was Rescue Rangers, we sat in the front row singing along to it. My family still goes every year & I've loved disney world ever since I can remember! :)

I was 3 on our first trip. The memories are hazy, but I remember loving Figment and being equally terrified and fascinated with the Haunted Mansion. I would go on and on about the scary ride where you saw the ghosts of George Washington and Abe Lincoln signing the Declaration of Independence. It would be years before I realized what I was getting confused there.

First trip my son was 2 and we decided he was to young to enjoy the trip so we left him with the grandmother and great grandmothers. We stayed at the Swan and got bumped to concierge level, which was awesome. The thing I most remember was we discovered these beer glasses called yards, I think. They had a wooden handle and were really tall. I think that is why I don't remember much about that trip!

Great thread!

My first trip was to Epcot sometime in the 80s. My parents owned a condo in St Pete. We would come down for several weeks every summer and would drive to Orlando to go to one of the parks for a day and drive back that evening. Epcot was so cool. Figment, Body Wars, Journey into the Imagination and all the countries. Then came MGM. It was ok, but not as cool as Epcot (was). We never considered MK because it was "for kids".

A decade later, my DW and I adopted our son and came back to WDW staying on site for the first time. My DS was 4 and MK was our first visit. By the time we got to the castle, my DW and I agreed this was the coolest place and watching my DS take it all in was magical. We stayed all day watched the fireworks. By the end, I had tears in my eyes and wondered how we could have ever thought the place was just for kids.

My DS is now 15 and has been to WDW 7 times, with his 8th trip in about a month. Watching Wishes our first night from in front of the castle is our family tradition now and I still get tears in my eyes.
