Italian Restaurant in World Showcase

Another vote for almost ANY PLACE other than Alfredo's. We thought the first time was a fluke compared to our experiences at other WS table service places. But the second was worst than the first. Both were in December and BEFORE the Dining Plan was in effect so crowds were low. But poor service and lack of caring about the same were the biggest issue. And yeah, the food is so-so. Not bad, just nothing special for the price, even lunch.

I would also say Le Cellier, Teppanyaki or Rose&Crown as my first choice. Looking back over the last few years, we total 30+ meals at those three and can't number a single one as a bad experience.

Alfredo's is in our top 10 favourites at WDW. Each trip, we do eat there, but only once. I'd suggest trying other places. Our #1 favourite is LeCellier. I highly recommend it. (I'm not just saying that because I'm Canadian :))

We've enjoyed Alfredo's (and Mama Melrose's at DS) but would never schedule more than one meal there per trip because there are so many other good restuarants available.

Thanks metscool, reptar77, Iwalker8, maelstrom, daverube, durangojim, swimmom, foldmama, m star, disneygirl_wdw, luna99, gatordoc, and Erik.

We really appreciate all of the great information from everyone. If anyone has any more info to add that would be great. We are going over Christmas!

Thanks again

If you want to see the Candlelight Processional, you might consider getting dinner package reservations at Alfredo's since you'll be dining there anyway. That way you'll be assured seats.

Thanks Pooh For Presid, hakunamatata, KeithVH, dreamscometrue, ClemsonTigger, hcswingfield, and again to durangojim also thanks for the great tip on the Candlelight Processional, that is a neat idea.

All of your infomation is a huge help.
We have decided that since none of us are huge Italian fans that we will try to get new reservations for Le Cellier, or something similar.

Thanks again to all for the great advice.

You are very welcome. I also highly recomend Raglan Road at Downtown Disney.

Yep, Alfredo's is a nice place and good to try. But there are so many other places worth trying, I'd look elsewhere. If Le Cellier is booked, I'd suggest France, China or even Mexico before returning to "Italy." FWIW.

There is another way given Alfredo's location:

Since so much of the WS is see as you go, your timing is usually more flexible. Therefore, what we have done a couple times is do (reservations or not) a very late lunch at Alfredos (around 2:00 or 2:30) and simply get appetizers. I believe they have an appetizer sized portion of their Alfredo which is what everyone raves about. They also have a very nice pasta fagioli soup. We tend to be munchers around WS, so this is a great perk in the middle. We start in Mexico and usually grab one or two things from each country (our own little F&W Festival), dividing them 4 ways. That way, if someone doesn't like what we got, we are only 1 pavilion away from the next stop (and usually let that person have first say). You can integrate a meal like Alfredo's or Tempura Kiku (wonderful tempura bar in Japan) without spending a lot of time or money at the sit down locales. Then, after having sampled everywhere, the next night with a full blown meal would be quite nice.

Oh, and I second the candlelight meal idea. It is wonderful. I put my votes in for Le Cellier or Restaurant Marakesh personally!

I have never been to Alfredos but I have heard that it has gone down in quality and waitstaff as of lately. My parents went there in 1995, and liked it but recently I've heard bad stuff about it. Before making two reservations for there, I would suggest going somewhere else, especially because there are so many places in Disney that you have a lot of options. I've heard really good things about Le Cellier as well, so if you want another dinner in Epcot, I'd go for that.

I was on the CP this spring and went to Alfredo's quite often. I am Italian and I am usually craving pasta.

Alfredo is a northern Italian restaurant; most people are familar with Southern Italian cooking. My family is Sicilian, but I found the pasta at Alfredo to be pretty good. The noodles are all made fresh, and the sauce is fairly good. The lasagna is different to what most are used to, but not bad. It is a little overpriced, but the atmosphere is very nice. Plus, its always good to have pasta and wine in Venice! That's the charm of Epcot.

A caveat to my post. If I could get la Befana {sp?} to eat with us, that'd be different. She's cool enough (and wouldn't put up with any server hassle) that I'd go to Alfredo's . . .
