I have that feeling from the moment we land in Orlando and they open the plane door and I can feel the humidity come in. I love the smell of Florida.
It can be gross, but darn it, it's Disney =)

Riding to the resort on the bus (the anticipation)
Walking into the room at the resort for the 1st time
Seeing the first fireworks show (this year it will be Epcot)
Character meals
Entering the MK & looking straight ahead at the castle

Last summer, my boyfriend and I went for a walk one night when it was sort of humid (not really humid, but that's a good thing) and we walked by a house that had a beautiful flower garden. The whiff of humidity plus all those flowers almost made me cry because I missed WDW so much.
Then we went to Disney in February, so it all worked out haha.

Not counting the drive to Florida...
1. I always manage to get the Main Street Electrical Parade music coming out of Orlando on I-4 heading toward U-S 192. There are slight turns of the steering wheel in time to the beat.
2. Driving through the arch.
3. Going through the Magic Kingdom toll plaza and flashing a WL confirmation.
4. Stopping at the WL drive-in point to get parking pass.
5. First look at the lodge.
6. The "Welcome Home" from the bellmen.
7. The positive WHOOSH of cold air going through the lobby doors.
8. Surveying the lobby.
9. Greeting at checkin.
10. Leaving checkin.
11. When the bellman leaves after dropping off the luggage and you just look around and go out on the balcony and soak it up.

Actually my favorite aspect of any disney trip is the planning. I love trying to get the best deals and making my dining and hotel reservations. I guess its the anitisipation of the trip. Now that I have kids I enjoying seeing the world through their eyes rather than mine. It definitely made our trips to disney more eventful. I guess my one selfish thing is to get a cupcake from the poly, I just love' em, Dole whips are pretty darn good too.:slurp:

all in response to the title of the thread...:p

I can't wait to smell the Dinosaur ,or Countdown to Exc as my family still calls it, loading area. I dunno I love that smell.
I also loved the Horizons oranges, but that closed in '99 and i don't remember much else of the ride....

Going next Tuesday for about 12 nights, very exciting stuff.

By the way anyone else know what is going to be at the TOT event? I'm going and I'm very excited.

The little things?
1. After the long drive, getting my parking pass from the security guard at my resort.
2. Actually seeing the resort I'm staying in - anything from the colors of Pop to the A-frame of Contemporary.
3. The smells of the resort lobby, my room, the monorail, ride queues, etc.
4. The sounds of the train whistle at MK & the background music.
5. Since I park at most parks, my first ride on the trams.
6. Our first meal always seems so memorable - just being able to sit down, relax and enjoy your first meal knowing you made it and you are where you want to be with the people you love.

Those are just the few that come to mind at first thought.

1. Seeing the first road sign for WDW!
2. Checking in!... and noticing all the brand new white sneakers also waiting in line to check-in(although I hear it is now brand new crocks!)
3. Checking out the pool at the resort! Love that part!
4. Entering through the gates (whatever park)...and especially seeing Cinderella's Castle but SSE is also pretty exciting....we are here!
5. 1st thrill ride....buckling up and waiting for the ride to start (especially when it is your first time...can't wait for that feeling on EE)
6. The rush of adrenaline when you get off Space Mountain and wanting to rush right back on....even though you can't.
7. Waking up the second day in the hotel room..knowing that you are in WDW and the parks and a wonderful buffet breakfast await.
8. Can't wait to eat at San Angel Inn during the day when inside the place it feels like a romantic night...love to get confused when we come out and it is still day.

Great thread...love to read the detailed memories.
