It is rumor no more!! Paperwork filed for Contemporary DVC!

The paperwork has been on the web for awhile (there was a link a few weeks back). Plus when we got our '09 points book last month, the Contemporary (with Tower) was already listed along with point values. Last we heard the rooms will open for use before they start to sell them (looking to launch sales at the same time as either Grand Californian or the Hawaii Resort). From our source right now their big sales focus is the AKL so that the inventory is as low as possible before the new 3 are rolled out.

That's interesting since DVC still denies the tower being DVC.. :veryconfu

looks like it will be for sale in 2010 since it shows 2060 for expiring date

I think it will sell WELL before that... I'm guessing Oct. 1st. While I get what you're saying about a 50 year contract meaning it wouldn't start till then, my guess is they'd bridge the gap between now and then with developer's points, and that really the contract would cover 51 years. Also, I think either AKL or SSR had similar verbiage in it's master contract and it opened earlier than the date too.

I havent got my new DVC Vacation Planner book either. I hope it comes soon. Has Saratoga Springs sold out yet? Or will they be selling SS, AKLV, and Contemporary Villas all at the same time?

SSR is sold out. Currently AKL is all they're selling... But there's going to be quite a few more choices soon. VCR, plus I think more filings have just occurred in Florida to allow for the sale of Disneyland's Villas at Grand Californian... Not to mention the new treehouses that are going up quickly because they're all pre-fab (they're not going to be able to keep that one quiet for much longer either, I don't think)! All those new options on the way, plus the economy I think, is why there are such good incentive packages right now for AKL.

..... and the giant building next to the contemporary didn't give this away?

Yeah, we all knew it... But there was plenty of rumor that CRO and DVD were fighting it out as to who would finally get control of the building, or if it would be "shared" between the two. This would be final proof that the entire building is DVC and CRO isn't getting any of it.

How could they be fighting it out this long. Decisions had to be made 2 years ago when plans were finalized. Room styles between DVC and standard deluxe rooms are not the same and I doubt they would receive permission to start contruction if those details weren't in place.

It was a smart move to hold out on any info release so that the sale of SSR would finish and give AKV a good start. If the info on the Contemporary villas got out then maybe more people would have waited and not bought at SSR, AKLV or AKV.

Points will start to sell soon, probably by spring we will see info about presale to members. I cannot imagine WDC waiting till 2010 to release. The fact of the Grand Califonian Villas points going on the market soon should not slow down the Contemporary villa sales since they are differant markets. Some people will want both, but most travel to either DL or WDW. Who knows how the Treehouses will be handled? Will they be an addition to SSR which most are saying they will be, but will more SSR point be sold or will there now be Treehouse points?

I agree that the design was set long ago. But they still could have been available for CRO. Or "shared" between the two entities. I think it would be fairly easy for CRO to routinely fill at least part of that building with cash reservations. That location, along with the size of the rooms would make for an attractive room rental catagory for those with tons of cash.

I agree about the treehouses, too. Who knows what the deal will be there. I've been reading on the topic from those with much more knowledge than I, and they point to a few different reasons why it couldn't be part of SSR... Both from zoning and paperwork standpoints, and also from a practical "amenities" standpoint. It'll be interesting to see what ends up happening. My bet is that it will be its own property with its own points, but will tie together with the facilities of either OKW or SSR. But who knows for sure.

But you think it will be Spring before they start selling points? My bet is on Oct. 1st. If I recall correctly, they started selling AKL points literally within a few days of when it was officially announced to the public.

The reason I do not think it will be Oct 1st is because DVC members would have had presale notice. I the past this has been the norm. I also feel that they will push sales of AKV though the Christmas holiday and then think of when to open sales for the Contemporary.

I could be wrong on all counts. Time will tell.

You were right!

I never saw this one coming and it just hit me squre in the head. I never would have thought the points would go on sale this soon.

Thanks, it feels good to be right once in a great while!! :ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

Now I've just gotta decide if I go resale on SSR points (and then be locked into regular SSR rooms if I can't get a THV rezzie) or buy the BLT at full market cost. What to do, what to do...

OR BOTH. :D

Go resale! I have SSR points and we have stayed all over. We are in AKL next month for 1 1/2 weeks with savanna view.

SSR is still a very nice resort with DTD within walking distance.

Resale and saving thousands of dollars is the only answer.

Good luck with your decision.
