I know it has been awhile...But here is another ISTCrew Original, this one for April 25th.

A Short list of updates, as I wasn't really looking for anything new. I was working on completing MOUSEHUNT 2004 (A link to my MOUSEHUNT 2004 review is at the end of this update). So, here goes a short list:

--I guess the big news here is the 20K lagoon. It is almost completely drained. Even though construction walls stretch all the way down the backside of Fantasyland, there is one spot that I found in which you can get a very good, clear view of the lagoon. When I saw it, rocks were completely out of the water, and and the water level was so much lower than it usually is. The station is all rusty and such. The only bad part of this draining process...ALL OF FANTASYLAND SMELLS LIKE FISH! (haha Kenan!).

--The Stitch wall was painted dark blue, and stars were added on it.

--Everest construction is really starting to look promising. The track for the drop from the outside of the mountain has been added! A giant trench was dug, and a great big pile of dirt (GIANT pile) was sitting by the rivers edge. ALOT more coaster track was added aswell. This ride will have alot of twists. By the end of the week, tracks should appear higher than the Tree Of Life. I'm using the same method as I have used in the past. Where there is a black support, coaster track will be on top. Much black support structure is still trackless.

--and for, perhaps the most important update : New pillows were added to the couches in the AKL lobby lol.

And that's it. Actually, it's not. Click the link below to read about MOUSEHUNT 2004, the event that took place today. Pics of everything will be up soon.CLICK HERE FOR MOUSEHUNT

Great update! :D

It's exciting to hear the something is FINALLY going on at the 20K lagoon site. Hmm, but why would it smell like fish?!?! No real fish we used in the attraction, right? It's also exciting to heard about Everest :D

Hey.. was that picture spot at the end of the wall by the stand by ariels grotto? I was thinking of squishing in there to get a photo because I saw that I could see the lagoon, but it looked tight. They did a good job of covering almost all the angles of the lagoon. I *was* thinking of standing on one of the chairs by the wall and reaching my hand over the wall to get a picture.... but that would have looked incredibly suspicious as you are right in the public view of EVERYONE.. hehe

I was gonna stand on the planters when I went, but there were people sitting there, so Im gonna save it for the next time I go to MK

the "smell" of fish isn't from the fish, themselves (and everything else), but from the bacteria that grows on them. That is why in areas with dead fish, the smell is stronger (bacteria grows better on dead things). In the case of 20K, since it just sits there and stagnates as they drain it, and it's in the 80s outside, bacteria grows very quickly on the rocks and it makes everything smell disgusting. It's a giant biology experiment. I'm sure once they drain the lagoon out, they will douse it with bleach to kill all of the bacteria before demolition begins...don't want a biohazard in Fantasyland!

THeres a spot right behind Dumbo, between the rocks and the begining of the grotto where you shoud be able to get a shot.

The timeline has this being completed by November.

Not 80's ... 180's! It was so hot yesterday. I got the picture from Ariel's Grotto. They have the construction wall up in that area too, but there is a wall with coral on it on the right side. Step on the orange concrete thing, and you can see right over. You could get a much better picture if you stand on the rocks in the grotto, but I suggest you do it at a non-crowded time, cuz I know whoever does it will get yelled at.

Seems they're draining the lagoon very slowly to make sure that everything is structurally sound as they go....either that or they're using a small pump to drain...either way, it'll take awhile.

Wow, is that 20K pic depressing or what? Nice update dude! You're the best. I still think that EE will be done early, but that's just me.

With as little water as was removed in one week, they could honestly just be letting the water evaporate out...with as hot as it has been and no real rain...either that or they are draining it with a straw...

When it starts to warm up here in Montréal, I've noticed that the Métro system here develops a slightly fishy smell, usually only just enough that it's not unpleasant though.

I presume that with the budget cuts and the like at WDW that the pump consists of one man syphoning the water out with a straw
