The fish smell came from algae that was at the bottom, or on the rocks. It was floating near the top. Also, I'm guessing they haven't been treating it with chlorine and the sun/water/moisture mixture is causing the smell. They started on Monday and on Sunday, the water level was down about 3 feet. If it keeps going at that pace, it should be empty in 3 weeks. The fact that it may be supporting a structure behind it is what may slow it down.

SirGoofy - Everest keeps getting bigger and bigger. I can only imagine how truly huge it will be when it is done. I saw The pictures on ScreamScape of the track this morning, and I have never even seen that segment, so it makes me wonder how much is going on in the back.

I braved the drizzle today and checked out the lagoon. It's just about totally drained. Such a weird sight.

I remember seeing some pics of the empty lagoon when it was drained for refurbishment many years ago. All the rocks and everything were very colorful. Today, everthing was a drab, ugly gray. A really sad sight to see.

And Fantasyland does indeed have a funny smell to it now...

Yea...it looked very grey and depressing. It hasn't gotten paint, so that's why it is not colorful I guess. Atleast it's gone. I'm really hoping something other than a M&G will go in the area. If they made the entrance to ToonTown there, we could have one that was bigger and better than Disneyland's. Ariel's Grotto will kind of seem out of place now. I wonder what they will do with the Triton Statue?

Good question - I know that we are focusing on 20K and the draining, but I haven't seen any connection between the draining lagoon and that red headed fish's grotto. What's going on over there?
