After taking a short little break from Disney to sleep late, and lay around the house, I was back at it again today. I know it has been awhile since my last ISTCrew Original, but I have been busy lately. Starting now, a new one should be up once every week (if not more). Since Tifani did not get her AP right away (she's waiting until the end of the year) I went by myself, and I was able to do a lot more. Today, I was at MK, AK, and MGM. So here are the updates...
I started off at MK, after a little bus dilemma. I got there at 10:30, and starting snooping around. Here is what's new...
--The signs on the SGE wall have been enlarged. Before, it was just smaller newspaper clippings of fake headlines, reading an alien is on the loose (Stitch). Now, each one is blown up, and cover almost a complete panel of the wall.
--It seems Stitch is EVERYWHERE in Tomorrowland. A Stitch topiary was added across from the Speedway, and a Pleakley statue was placed in front of the DVC booth.
--I went in the Merchant of Venus to see what it looked like since they redid it. Well, after snooping for a while, I found it...A Stitch's Great Escape T-Shirt. I really liked it, and later on in the day, I went and bought it (just as the CM was taking them off the rack). It has the SGE logo, and pictures of Stitch on various rides throughout the MK. There are 6 pictures, made to look like they had been taped on the shirt. Stitch appears on the following rides : Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Dumbo, Big Thunder, Country Bear Jamboree, and Haunted Mansion. Except, in every picture, Stitch crossed out the people he was sitting next too, and drew an arrow pointing directly to him. I'll post a picture later.
--From the TTA, I could see that the preshow doors for SGE were still open. It looks like painting was done, but they still have alot of work to do.
--The Tomorrowland Stage is completely gone, with the tarp being the only thing still intact.
--The new ToonTown station looks to be nearing completion. It seems smaller than the old one, but the color scheme and that looks to be the same.
--And some good news. The clock on top of "Ms. Potts Cupboard" in Fantasyland has finally been fixed. It has been off by a few hours and 25 minutes ever since the time change awhile back.
After MK, I went over to AK...
--The Everest walkway is finally on the map. There are two versions of maps in the park right now. The one with the purple stripe near the top is the newer one, with the Everest path, and the "future site of Expedition Everest" block. The one with the green stripe is the older map.
--More track was put in place in Everest. The 2 new pieces though, are covered by plastic, which led me to believe that the track segments may be brakes, or LSM's.
--on Dinosaur, the Carnotaur AA in the part where it takes your picture was not working. He just stood still.
-- I saw the Discovery Island boat entertainment from the Everest bridge. It was a nice touch, but the Asian/Moraccan/Spanish/Reggae music they play was just really bad.
After AK, I headed over to MGM...
--A giant "Around the World in 80 Days" poster has been added to the back of the GMR show building. When I say big, I mean it. It was probably somewhere close to 17-20 feet high.
--Small trees have been added in front of the character trailers on Mickey Ave.
--The seating area in the Studio Catering Co still has not returned. Even the Flik photo op that was in the area, has been boarded up. I'm not sure, but they may have removed the tables because of the construction going on at the HISTK playground.
--Some of the buildings on Big City Street have returned from Rehab, and look great. The construction wall for the Stunt Show has been moved back.
--San Francisco is coming along. It is very impressive from the end of the street. Still not finished though.
--While I was looking in the Muppets store, I found some more great t-shirts from the great WDW merchandise dpmt. Great things such as "Someone who loves me went to WDW, and all I got was this shirt"...Or how about "Florida...Land of 1,000,000 tourists" with the outline of Florida behind the words. Or "WDW's for lovers"...The tourist one cracked me up. Nothing is as bad as the AK shirt, with the words "it's TREE-rific" written across it.
And that's about it for today. I didn't see a line over 55 minutes, but it's a wednesday, so it wasn't that busy. I'm loving the $2 water deal at AK and MK. I heard it was only for the month of June, but because they went through the great deal of changing every one of those signs, it may be permanent.
The pictures will be up soon.
