This year, my mom and I went to the 999 Happy Haunts Event. We also went last year, and had a great time. This year was different, in that we had to register at Coronado, take the bus to MK, and thats where the event took place. By the way, this was an after hours event at the MK, dedicated to the Haunted Mansion, and was limited to 999 people. Ok, so lets start off with..
--Registration-Was much easy than I thought It would be. We parked at Coronado Springs at 4-45, and walked in. We registered, got our crudentials, which had a real nice picture of the tall hitchiking ghost (Ezra) as the package we payed for. Anyway, we got that, an envolope with all our information in it, our wristband, for God knows what, they just put it on us, and our free gift, which is really nice. We went into salon K I believe, got our merchandise, and registered for the auction, not to bid, but to get our SUPER-NEATO bidding paddle (picture soon). So, after we lollygaggled around for a bit, we were usherd into another salon, for the auction
--Auction From The Dead- We were all seated inside the giant salon. There was a nice centerpeice, as the stage, of the Haunted Mansion library, and 2 big screens on either side. The Imagineer, Jason Surrel, who was also at the event last year, made a short speech, and gave us a never before seen (evryone say OOOOO evryone say AHHH) clip of the movie. It was really good actually, and, without giving it away, the singing busts our there own personality in the movie, and are pretty funny....but anywho, I had never been to a real live action before, and I for one, thought it was really funny that they talked so fast. The guy in our section, kept going like, YEEEEAAAWWW everytime someone rasied there paddle, which got really old, really fast. Anyway, we were starving, so my mom walked out, and so did I. As I was, I ran into your manager Kenan, she was like "Your the Mission Space kid right"?, and she goes, "Im Kenan's manager", and I was like "OOOHHH ok, yea, he told me you would be here"...By the way Kenan's manager, if your reading this now, thanks for helping me that day I wasnt feeling to well...I didnt think it was you til later tonight.
ok, so after a trip to the gift shop, to get some doritos, and a sweatshirt (cuz I was FAREEZIN! and I actually bought a Disney shirt haha) We went out, and stood around for the busses. Half of the busses were Mears, and Half were DCL busses. We got on a DCL one, and listened to Tarzan all the way there. So, we get there, and we were starvin, so we went to eat
-The Food-- Was just plain...aweful. The food was aweful last year, you'd think they'd try a little harder this year, but nope. Im not a big eater of different varities of food, so, I just had a roll, and some potato's, which would of been aweful any other day, but I was just to hungry. My mom, got some mashed potato's, and put, what she thought was gravy on them, but it turned out to be BBQ sauce, but there wasnt no lights around, so who would of known. There were problems all over the place, one being, we were told to go to Liberty Tree Tavern cuz they had food there...When we got there, no one knew what we were talking about, and sent us to Harbor House. We just walkied over to Adventureland, and they had much less crowded buffet tables. They had food, but no plates, no forks, no nothing. It was a mess, and my grandparents, who also came with us, were really dissapointed. So after we eat, we got to the rides...
-Rides--Poc, Alladin, HM, and the Riverboat were open. They had fortune tellers in Adventureland, and a DJ blocking the pathway into Frontierland.
-Entertainment--I do applaud the entertainment. The Headless Horseman came out twice, followed but a a small, but very nice, Haunted Mansion parade. It had the HM butlers dancing with shovels, and when they dragged them on the ground, they sparked. Following them was the Ballroom Dancers from the ride, but these were actual people, dancing down the street. It was pretty nice.
-Everything Else--They had a photo-op with the Doombuggy, and we were given a coupon for a free desert, and goody bag. The desert was a sugar cookie. Anyway, it was 11 pm, and the last thing on our itternary was to "Meet in the Magic Kingdom Hub for a Magical Experience" which, was really kept underwraps, and for some crazy reason, I was thinking we would be shown Wishes. We we waited, and the HM music started up, and they put on a really nice light show on the castle, set to the HM music for us. It was real nice, but no Wishes
So, we bussed back to Coronado, and Were home now. I'll put the pictures up tomorrow, and have a ghoulish goodnight...
And, so I dont get houded for putting this in news and rumors, I have some general Disney park news.
--As we were pulling out of the MK bus loop, they had a big crane up next to the monorail track, and a giant orange tent, and 4 or 5 guys working on the monorail track. It looked a little big to be gone by morning, but who knows
