Universal's really stepping up their game! Screamscape posted this today:

2016 - The Grinch / Poseidon’s Fury Replacement - Rumor - (7/18/12) With all the focus on Universal Studios Florida, fans of Islands of Adventure maybe wondering when IOA will get another new attraction. Sure, IOA will be linked with USF via the Hogwarts Express, but what then? Other than the Wizarding World the rest of IOA has mostly remained unchanged sin

ce it opened in 1999.
There have been a few major attractions rumored over the years since then which failed to get off the ground at the time, but one of these may be coming back for a second chance. According to the latest buzz, IOA’s next big attraction will be due to premier the year following Potter’s Phase 2 roll out, which would put it around 2016 or so. If things hold true between now and then, we can expect to possibly see that long rumored Grinch / Mt. Crumpet themed coaster ride added to Seuss Landing in an interesting location. I’ve been told that the Grinch coaster proposal may see it added as a replacement to Poseidon’s Fury, possibly even reusing the attraction structure after some cosmetic changes of course.
Technically Posiedon’s Fury is in what remains of the Lost Continent section of the park, so this would allow for Seuss Landing to expand beyond the borders of it’s own “Island” to take it over. This would also leave Mythos and the Sinbad stunt show as the only remaining pieces of the Lost Continent, expected to stay as they are for years to come. This isn’t the first time Universal Creative have pitched putting a coaster inside Poseidon’s Fury, as it was the original location pitched for the Gringott’s bank coaster before it all moved over to USF.
As for the ride itself… look for this to be a good fun for all coaster experience without any inversions. Beyond that, the only other interesting rumor I’ve heard is that Universal has been keeping a careful eye on Verbolten at Busch Gardens Williamsburg which features an exciting free-fall trick track section that could be put to use on Grinch. That said, I’d expect that they have also been talking with Vebolten’s creator, Zierer, about this as well. Stay tuned…
I love the Grinch, but this seems kinda random. Thoughts?

If they moved the red fish blue fish spinner somewhere else like near the bridge to port of entry, or the back path by sneetch beach (would have great views) that would open up a huge plot of land where this could go, or whatever else they may come up with

I've always envisioned an indoor Mt Crumpet coaster...but realistically I think we'd see a dark ride based on either the Lorax or Horton Hears a Who first. I could be wrong.

Unfortunately, it's now only a shadow of what it once was. It used to be a decent show, with a phenomenal illusion at the climax. The illusion was destroyed with the refurb'ed theming and set decor, and the video now resembles some star wars fanboy youtube video. Originally a worthwhile creation, now just sad. :(
You mean Darkanon is not a highly creative name?

I've been calling for a Grinch-themed dark ride for years. I can definitely see it happening with all the craziness at UOR right now. An indoor family coaster would be great. Using Poseidon's existing show building isn't too bad of an idea, but it really looks like they could fit it in that nice plot behind One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. We'll see what happens!

I would absolutely love an attraction like this. It would need to have a Jim Carrey as Grinch animatronic or I will be severely disappointed.

I have to agree. I really liked Poseidon being the 'bad guy' battling Zeus instead of him being the good guy battling Darkenon. It just has a bigger cheeseball factor that wasn't anywhere near the same in its original form.

While Poseidon's Fury isn't what it used to be, I still find this rumor to be absurd. Why extend Seuss into Poseidon when there's already an expansion pad behind Cat in the Hat? And how would that even work? You'd have a Seuss attraction intruding on what's left of LC, unless they retheme all of it. And I'm having a lot of trouble picturing the current building being used for a coaster.

You mean MSNBC, not FOX, right? Please!!

I'm pretty sure they meant Fox News. Have you seen it? It's like watching The Onion sometimes.

Nope I meant Faux News :)

Anyway, back to this Screamscape rumor... The back of the Cat in the Hat show building has mountains painted on it, like the mountains in Grinch I think... Can't really see it unless you'd be backstage, in the expansion plot.. Hmm, wonder why??? Doubt it is for a Grinch family coaster in Lost Continent... Maybe if someone who has a bit of info about this can post the reasoning, some light would be shed...

If Poseidon got a technology upgrade... I think it could still be an awesome show. The problem is it's location - it's sitting in a lame duck land.. making it dead man walking :(

let me guess you get a tingle up your leg when the messiah speaks?

i personally feel like the biggest broken part of an attraction in all of orlando is not the yeti but the missing water tunnel effect. that blew people away who werent even interested in the show
