Is Walt Disney Imagineering dead?

Completely missed the mark here.

-Mickey Mouse is the face of Disney
-Toy Story Land is latest and greatest, TS4 is coming and so are even more merchandising opportunities. And let's be real, it's essentially a Bug's Life Land 2.0
-Cars is completely irrelevant, that's pre-$hapek
-SWL; Tomorrowland is its billboard, there's a movie EVERY YEAR since Disney bought it, and $hapek wants to cash in on all of it.
I didn’t miss the mark.

1. Mickey Mouse is 90 years old. This means Disney’s animated franchises are likely to remain timeless in the Disney theme parks.
2. Disney will seek ways to capitalize on existing IP. This Toy Story will continue to remain relevant even though it is 23 years now.
3. Chapek doesn’t dictate the studios. He will be the link to Disney’s synergy approach. Will Disney ever be post-Chapek? Funny how that is never considered. In 60 years, I’m sure he isn’t around, but Disney super fans will find another executive to hate.
4. My answer is same as above. They will cash in. So why do you think Cars won’t get the same franchise treatment? It’s almost a LOL moment.

If you agree the Franchise clock can be reset, then Cars is barely a year old.

“A second sequel, titled Cars 3, was released on June 16, 2017”

The relevancy and popularity of an attraction and the relevancy and popularity of a film/IP are not mutually exclusive. If it were, Roger Rabbit would not currently have a 55 minute wait. A good attraction will stand on its own, even if popularity in whatever franchise it's attached to has long waned.

Agreed. This is why RSR will last decades but Cars Land will not.

Maybe so, but people are willing to wait that long.
Don't get why tbh. The ride's not that great.

Absolutely no chance Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree going away. The same ride technology is going to the Toy Story Lands in Orlando and Paris. I’ll give Luigi’s 60% chance of staying in the long haul due to reliability, but this ride grew on me. I quite enjoy both of them. Cozy Cone is highly popular for the ice cream, churros, shakes and drinks. Not sure how the rest will go either.

Absolutely wrong. The ride is an absolute E-Ticket. Best ride in the park.

1. Mickey Mouse is 90 years old. IT'S ALSO, STILL, THE FACE OF DISNEY
2. You are correct. Thus, basing newest attractions on these IPs old and new. It's still a ploy for $hapek to get what he wants; brand recognition at the price of creativity.
3. $hapek makes the call for more Marvel in the parks, for more Pixar, for more Star Wars. I don't think it's a personal belief of his; it's strictly business. But in my opinion, leaves the parks open for billboard attractions and lands.
4. They'll cash in on the newest thing. Toy Story 4 is going to be the newest thing. You're speaking 60 years down the line, what's LOL is you being so caught up in the idea that Cars Land is safe.

The original point was that Cars Land can change in 60 years, don't forget that.

Plus when carsland opened, didn't cars 2 or one of the planes spin offs come out as well?

Planes was a bad movie, as was Cars 2.

Isn't your name "TwilightZone"? The same "TwilightZone" that was the Hollywood Tower Hotel and removed for GotG M:B?

TROR already conceded RSR will stay. Since when do they ever do a land change that keeps the original attractions. Bear Country became Critter Country, but Country Bears didn’t last. So if the point is they want to swap out an attraction like Luigi for Coco and call it Route 66 Land, then that’s still a stretch. More likely Cars & Friends Land.

I think we're on two separate pages.. I agree with you. It also makes me right with my original point?

I'm not saying RSR will be demolished. I'm saying in 60 years it might not be called "RSR"

To be fair, Country Bears hung on for another 9 years after Critter Country opened and then another bear-inspired attraction took its place. It had nothing to do with the land change, which wasn't exclusive to a particular type of 'critter' as they say. :)

Country Bears only closed because DL guests didn't appreciate it in the same way FL guests did and it took up too much real estate by having a second totally unecessary theater because of how popular it was out in FL.

Personally, other than RSR and Flo's V8 Cafe, I don't see much of Cars Land lasting over the next 50 years. Flo's V8 could have a name change, but the general place is just so nice I don't see it getting demolished.

Roger Rabbit is better than Indiana Jones Adventure or Pirates of the Caribbean???? Now if you thought I was talking about RSR, I 100% it's the best ride in DCA (it's not like it has any competition, though).

Did Vacation Hoedown being around all year long have anything to do with the lack of popularity in Disneyland? It's definitely nowhere near as charming or fun as the original show imo so I could see that being a factor.

I don’t know. I thought the original point was Cars IP can’t last and they want to swap out with a more relevant IP. I really don’t think this will happen. There’s certainly more room to add new IP if space is an issue, but DCA is a long way from running out of space.

Who calls it RSR? The ride will remain the same unless they want to do a Christmas overlay or they add more new characters or technology. It will still be Cars with the Cadillac mountain range.

Yeah, but what is a better way to promote a movie, regardless of quality, then a whole land?

Yep sure is, I'm actually not as bitter about the closure as most other people are because I read online that the wdw version is better anyways (in fact, if I remember correctly, pre gotg a lot of people disliked dca's simply because it wasn't as good as wdw's, dca's was a cheapo ride). Though I'm still upset about the odd superhero choice, spiderman or Dr. Strange would've fit better, but oh well.

I was super bitter about the whole thing. Still am. I gave M:B a chance and despised it. They replaced the elevator effects with TV screens, it blows my mind at how people think that's better. My 4k tv in the living room looks better than Mission:Breakout the actual ride.

Hopefully the WDW version wont change, for decades to come at the least.

Something like that lol.. Cars is a 2006 film, only making it 12 years old at this point (3 movies and loads of merchandise sales). The moment Cars Land becomes irrelevant, under our current management regime, is the moment i'd put money on them changing it in the future.

60 years is too long from now for us to know. I don't think $hapek's regime will change it, but god knows who will replace him.
