Is this unthinkable?

Good afternoon,
We are planning a trip out to Orlando at the end of June. There will be 4-6 of us traveling to WDW and surrounding Orlando parks. I was planning on getting a one day park hopper and visiting 3 parks- Epcot or holly wood studios in the morning, the other in the afternoon, magic kingdom for the fireworks and close out the park afterwards. Is this completely unfeasible? Or with the right planning can it be done?? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Crowds may be against you a bit, but it can be done if you're only interested in a few rides. When shows are taken out, there isn't much at Disney's Hollywood Studios. It also depends on how late the Magic Kingdom is open that day.

Its very feasible. It just depend on how many of the rides, attractions and shows (not to mention the shops) you're prepared to walk past in order to visit three parks.
EPCOT and Magic Kingdom are BOTH two day parks in order to get the most out of them.
I think there's a need to re-address your plans

It's easily do-able... but two parks is far more practical. You can do it if one of your park drops is just doing 2 or 3 things.. but you might find yourself a bit ragged by the end of the day. Disney's new FP+ system will be working against you as well.

It wasn't uncommon for us to do something like.. hit DHS first thing in the morning to get our 'must fixes' in for our favorites.. then hit another park for the day... and then hit MK after dinner time to see fireworks and do late night rides. We would do this with AK as well.. go in and ride everest, then leave, etc.

I would only suggest this tho if you have people that have already seen the parks and know what they want to do or not... if you want to explore/experience the parks... this is not the model to use. This is for people who are seeking to do certain attractions and not much else.

Exactly right. If the people in your party have experienced the parks before and you are just trying to hit a few attractions in each, this is do-able, but you won't really get to experience any of the parks in any detail and you will most certainly exhaust yourselves. My family are runners so we tend to do parks at a high energy level/rate of speed, but I doubt we would try a day this ambitious - we like to go-go-go so we can then sit and relax.

But, of course, seeing your idea, I had to think of my plan if I were trying to do something like that. I'd book FP+ for Epcot - Soarin' (or Test Track), Character Spot, and Mission:Space. I'd get to Studios at opening and go straight to Toy Story, then to RnRC and Tower of Terror. Picking up some baked goods at Starring Rolls and ideally out of the park by 11 or 11:30am.

Into Epcot by noon, I'd hope to do Soarin' with FP+ right away, then Living with the Land (always a must-do for me), Character Spot with FP+ (gotta fit some character time into the day for my daughter!), back to World Showcase for a late counter lunch in UK, France, or Germany with a couple of drinks - eating at non-usual meal times means shorter lines and faster service! Then back to Future World for FP+ at Mission:Space and maybe Test Track single rider (although last few times I've seen it, the line for single rider has not been very beneficial). Out of Epcot by 5pm or so.

To MK - odds are, not actually in the park until after 6pm. As soon as I get in the park, I'm hitting a FP+ kiosk to see if I can get anything booked. Whatever I can get booked, I'm going to do (trying to keep things in the same area) and then staying in the park for the entire evening. Sometimes later in the evening some of the lines for the more family friendly rides can go down a little bit and I'd hope to take advantage of that.

Sadly, late June means that afternoon thunderstorms are a definite possibility - plan for them with ponchos, because you can't hide out if you are trying to hit three parks in one day! Luckily, if it is a real soaker, Magic Kingdom will clear out quite a bit and you might be able to hit some more attractions!

Good luck and maybe we'll see you there (visiting June 28-July 7).

Thank you all for your advice. I guess I should have added some additional information. I am not particularly excited about WDW. I know I’m speaking blasphemy on a Disney blog, but hear me out. My in-laws are DLR fanatics. I prefer Disneyland because of how small the parks are. With good planning, we were able to ride all the good ones numerous times, including Radiator Springs Racers enough to the point that we were bored with it. I’m a planner and enjoy trying to get the puzzles pieces to fit together. There are just a few attractions we really want to experience at each park rather than taking the whole park in. We don’t have children yet, and I feel like WDW is better experienced in several days- a week, to get all that in with children. Since we are just interested in seeing a few things at each park, that’s why I thought it might be doable to do it in a day.

With that being said, some of you guys give me hope, and the other posts are the opposite. We are going to be down there from June 20-27th. We have 1 day planned to go to the beach and another will be spent probably a Downtown Disney or “touristy” things since my brother in law is graduating from Full Sail- the reason for our trip down there. My husband and I were wanting to spend 3 days at Universal Studios (again blasphemy ).

Does this new information change anyone’s opinions? After talking it over with my family today my husband and I were thinking of just trying to do all that we can and decide at the time if we want an additional day or save it for another time.

If you've been to Disneyland Resort then skip Disney's Hollywood Studios unless you really want to see some of the shows. The rides are Star Tours: The Adventures Continue (exactly the same ride with a different exterior), Toy Story Midway Mania! (exact same ride with a different but not impressive queue), Rock 'n Rollercoaster and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Rock 'n Rollercoaster is launched coaster but nothing overly special. Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has a far more lavish setting at the end of Sunset Blvd. The attraction also features the 5th Dimension Room not seen elsewhere. I think it looks rather hokey, but it is also a neat trick. I'm not sure than one scene is worth the travel hassle. I really like The Great Movie Ride, but it's only one ride that often gets passed over.

I'd say focus your time on EPCOT Center and Disney's Animal Kingdom. This is where you are going to find more unique aspects of Walt Disney World. Since you plan to be buying park hoppers, you can likely head over to the Magic Kingdom for the evening if you're still feeling up to it.

With no kids I think it is possible to push through and do whatever you want. Keep in mind it is going to be a really long day in the heat of the summer so I hope you have a rest/beach day after.

If you are really set on just hitting up a few attractions, then you can easily hit up 3 parks in one day. (I usually do all 4 parks in one day at least once a trip) But at $140ish per person, I'm not sure if it's really worth it. As pointed out, many of the rids in DHS are available in Cali, as is Soarin' in Epcot. At Epcot that would leave you with the rest of Future World, and then the countries. Blowing through the countries at whirlwind speed doesn't so them justice at all. You may want to consider scaling down to just 1 park, and saving yourself the $40 per person to add hopping. Makes for a less stressful day. Rushing around the parks trying to transfer between them all in June can be a bit warm resulting in less than perfect hair. (Or however one feels after a day of rushing about in the heat/humidity)

I would reconsider the idea of 3 days a Universal. I do really like the parks but I don't think there is enough stuff for three days (I am a huge harry potter fan and still think that). I would have 2 days Disney and 2 days Universal. That way you are not rushing around all day for Disney and being bored day 3 of Universal

It's definitely doable especially with no children. Just as others said..it will be hot and tiring. But since you seem to be a planner and know what you want to do I say go for it!
