i cant seem to find out if DCL will no longer be deporting out of NYC, can anybody confirm this?
They're not going out of NYC next year, from what I've heard, but I'm not certain beyond that. While it was a great cruise (I went in July), many of the CMs I spoke to said there was a number of complaints about the weather (not exactly swimming conditions a good deal of the time) and the expanse of onshore activities to partake in. Don't get me wrong, I loved Halifax and St. Johns, but they do have their limitations. Perhaps if another stop can be incorporated, such as Portland, ME (or even Boston), then Disney can market it as a true New England-Canada cruise. But, we'll just have to wait and see. I can say that our cruise was booked, with no upgrades available, so the demand is there.
well i guess what i mean is i live in CT, and was hoping to be able to deport out of NYC for a caribbean cruise, but the option on the website is nothing past this month or this year. i was hoping to avoid flying to port canaveral and just leave locally from here.
That I don't know about. When we got back one of the DVC reps we had been speaking with said the Magic was turning right around and heading down to the Caribbean. It appears that with their expansion into the Western Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico areas that NYC might be off the grid for a while. Sorry....
I personally thought the itinerary was mediocre at best. If I had to rank my Disney cruises based on itinerary, this one would be in my bottom 2. There weren't a ton of shore excursions from which to choose, and the 2 that I did in Halifax were very big disappointments, in no small part due to the weather. And while I liked our St. John excursion, it was a full day and didn't allow us to see the actual town. While it was a great cruise (I went in July). . .
I'm not a beach lover, even in the Caribbean, so I don't need swimming conditions in order to enjoy myself. But we were kept awake 2 of our 5 nights because the foghorn was sounding every 5-10 minutes. Our day in Halifax was a complete rain-out.many of the CMs I spoke to said there was a number of complaints about the weather (not exactly swimming conditions a good deal of the time) and the expanse of onshore activities to partake in.
This was true on our cruise, too.I can say that our cruise was booked, with no upgrades available, so the demand is there.
Seriously nice....
We lived there for a year! I'd like Newport too!
My feelings are that Disney will alternate Med and NY sailings every year. I am hoping they change up the NY sailings to go to Bermuda too. But overall the NY sailings sold very well and I definitely think they'll be back
Depending on when it is (teachers schedule and all), that would be one that we would be on.

This is the itinerary that my wife and I sailed for our honeymoon on the Home Lines "Homeric" -- 24 years ago. Home Lines is now defunct and the Homeric was sold to Holland America and renamed the Westerdaam (which we sailed on to Alaska for our 10th anniversary. How wierd is THAT!?!?!).I am hoping they change up the NY sailings to go to Bermuda too.
