Yep and I may be alone on this but I can honestly say that I am just not that into the Contemporary! Maybe its because it's so sterile and reminds me of DIA (Denver International Airport). I feel like staying in the main building would be reminiscent of the Hilton or the Holiday Inn in DTD on Hotel Lane. Plus with the 4th floor Concourse always astir with guests, monorail traffic, diners, etc. etc. I don't think I would find it very restful or relaxing. Maybe if I stayed in the Garden Wing I would have a different experience :cautious:

I agree 100%. I understand the location and history is what makes it a deluxe resort but having stayed at both the Contemporary and many of the moderate resorts, i'd do a moderate anyday. It doesn't feel very homey to me. Maybe i'd feel differently if I stayed in the Bay Lake Tower side?

I happen to enjoy SSR as it feels quiet and laid back. I'm using my DVC points next year to stay in the GFV. Now my question is, does that count as staying at the GF? With staying at BLT, I wouldn't count it as staying at the CR because its a totally different structure and name. Any thoughts?

We stayed at the Poly and were lucky to have a ground floor room. There was something special about sitting on the porch and looking out over the beautiful grounds watching it rain. It has a peaceful feel. I also liked the stroll to the monorail, either out the front or to the Transportation and Ticket Center. We also stayed at AKL and it was enjoyable, but I don't want to stay again. Not sure why. Also really enjoyed Wilderness.

Have you stayed at a Pop or All Star?

Yes POP was my first resort, and I loved it too for a 3 day MK commando junket...never got in the pool but we had a 2nd floor room right next to the bowling pin looking pool and the bar was right in front of it and I spent some time slowly drinking a 10 dollar drink and chilling one evening ...never ate in the food court ..I do not think I would do the All Stars though..

The Poly is one of few resorts that I have never visited, so I can't reply to that. A resort that gets a lot of hype is the Grand Floridian. I just don't see what's so great. I mean, the lobby with the music is very nice and relaxing, but the rest of the hotel just doesn't do it for me. The food at Narcoosees, (I hope I spelled it right), 1900 Park Fare, and Citricos is really good though. :hungry:

New room:

They need to lighten up that carpet and a bedspread would be better than the White Sheets look, but the room looks better other than that.

The bathroom looks horrid and there is no shelf under the sink, which I liked so much for holding those extra items. It could use one of those cute shower surround things! Maybe it looks better in person, though!!

Apparently, all Disney rooms are going with the White Sheets look. But the beds were comfy and the sheets super soft, so no real complaint.

Agree that the new bathroom is horrid, with the exception of brighter lighting (so it's easier to see) and the soap no longer gets cemented to the holder in the shower. However, I hate that there is no storage shelf either below or above the sink area. AND, worst of all, the hook for the dry towel when you are bathing is BEHIND the shower...you have to be a contortionist to reach it. Ending up leaving the towel on the floor (yuck).

We stayed in Tahiti (non-refurb room) a couple weeks ago, and when I walked into the bathroom I remembered how much better the old design was!
