is this common behavior at the food and wine festival?

Our last trip was the first time we went during the F&W festival. we are planning on going back again this October and we are considering skipping WSC. the first day we went to world showcase we were pretty shocked to see some pretty scary behavior :( we witnessed extremely drunk drinking teams spilling drinks and screaming loudly all over the place. we saw a fist fight break out between 2 men and a lovely lady throwing up in the bushes on our way out. needless to say, we didn't go back to WSC for the rest of our trip.
has anyone else seen this non-disney behavior or did we just go on a really bad day?

Sounds like it was simply a bad day, especially if it was the weekend. Disney does a fair job with crowds and that sort of behavior. I think exuberance and alcohol just carried the day then.

And weekends at the F&W are always busier, with the usual affect of their being more people to notice, I'm afraid.

Unfortunately their are always going to be lightweights that don't know how to handle their liquor. What's wrong with just having a drink and lighting up a stogie?

Sounds like you happened upon a bad day. We have never seen behavior like that. If we did we would move on and trust that security and staff would tend to those people, so we would not let it ruin our experience.

I'm thinking it was just a wrong place, wrong time, kind of thing. I've been to the world many times during F&WF and have never seen anyone get out of hand, myself included. Sure sometimes the alcohol makes some people a little louder on the weekend days when their are more people there, but usually I've seen just people having fun at WDW...much more tame than people having fun at some sports bar at another venue. Don't give up on it...I really think it was just one bad experience, not the norm.

We found evenings during F & W to be more that sort of party atmosphere although I don't think we saw that much bad behavior all in 1 day. Go to World Showcase during the day and get out at night if you want to avoid the worst of it. Still, Disney does better than others at keeping the behavior in check.

security was there very fast to break up the fight.
I checked my calendar and it was a Thursday we went, must have been a really bad day to pick lol

No this is not common. Are you sure you were not at a Halloween party across town?

no, not at the Halloween party:ROFLOL:

oh, don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with a few drinks. but a Thursday after lunch and you are staggering to the bushes to throw up...yes a lightweight. something I did not want my 5 year old to see

that makes me feel a lot better to know what we experienced was not common! I think we will give it another try , go first thing in the morning and avoid weekends, oh, and Thursday's ;)

We have been lucky enough to make it to the last nine F&W festivals, and only saw bad behavior once. One night on a weekend, some guy was using a building in the world showcase as a restroom. We usually avoid weekend nights because of the crowds. With all the people that go there, there is bound to be someone once in a while who gets a little goofy. No offense Goofy.

never had a problem .. yet ... but with any festival you are always going to get a few numpties! Any time we have seen any sort of disturbance around disney property, the disney security is usually there in seconds and takes them out of site very quickly!

Back in 2009, I heard a Security guard and a guest speaking in the washroom about F&W and the secuity guard was saying that they do witness some pretty crazy behaviour and how busy busy that time of year is for them.

I haven't personally witnessed any outrageous behaviour myself at all, but I tend to go weekdays to the festival, so I don't know if weekends are any different.

I think it was just bad luck

Like geodon34, I've been going to the Festival for almost a decade now, and have never seen anything like what you described. Yes, I've witnessed a guest or two who had too much to drink and was a bit unstable, but not the screaming or fighting you saw. I think you just happened upon a bad night.

I have certainly noticed that the WS is much more crowded on the weekends during the Festival, but since you said this was a Thursday night, that could not have been it ....

We go to the Food and Wine festival, just about every year and although we have seen some really funny things, nothing out of hand. One time, it was unseasonably hot, and saw several people looking rather, um, green LOL, alcohol and hot weather, especially if you aren't used to it, is a dangerous combination!! We go to World Showcase both at night and during the day, and I have to say, Disney really keeps things running smoothly. Maybe it was just an off night, but I'm sure it happens. My best suggestion is to go one night during your stay, and see how it goes. I wouldn't avoid the park at night based on one bad experience. Enjoy!

We also went in October and were shocked at how some of the people were behaving. Maybe we were there at the same time. I'm all for having fun and having a few cocktails to celebrate, but what we witnessed was way more than that. It was scary. We saw the same things you saw from the drinking teams, screaming, fights and puking!! We saw a group of guys throwing their cups at the garden train trying to derail it. There was garbage everywhere!!! We saw people throwing food, cups etc at the passing monorail. There were groups holding hands and running yelling at everyone to get out of their way. Security had their hands full!!

I know for us that we really enjoy the Food and Wine events. We usually go during the day though to avoid alot of the party atmosphere that can occur late at night.
