Is This a good time?

So my BF and I are in the planning stage of our first trip to WDW. I've been before, twice, and he has never been. He's 24. ::Sigh::

ANYWAY. I've been in October, and it was crowded and hot, but the research I've done shows that the week of September 21st, 2013, will be low priced, and low crowds.

I was wondering if anyone had experience mid-September and what they thought. The last time I went was in 2010 first week of March and it was deadsville. Longest wait for anything was 35 minutes for Rapunzel's meet and greet.

I do know that it will be hot and extremely muggy, however, this seems to be the best time to go from what I can tell. Please let me know if you've had good or bad experiences this time of the year, and what you had for weather, prices, lines, and crowds. I could really use some outside opinions.

I love that time of year. I usually go in mid September. I attend the first Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. There are room and dining discounts available on top of the already low value-season rates.
The crowds are very low and I have never waited in a line longer than 10 minutes (but I don't like the thrill rides).

I was just there Sept 23-28th and I was also under the assumption that it wasn't going to be crowded. I am going to be honest with you.. Free dining is always offered in Sept and it has made the crowds jump way higher than what they used to be. We were shocked at how crowded it was that week. Walking around the parks seemed more crowded than the lines for rides.. the popular ones did have a the normal long wait but everything else wasn't so bad. It was also very hot.. I am talking 82 degrees, but the Real Feel everyday was 98-101 degrees! It only rained twice, and both short showers. I will be sticking to my usual month that I visit WDW. We all said that was the last time we'd see WDW in September for a while.

I would suggest it. I've only heard good things about going then, though the last time I went in September was thirteen years ago... Hahaha. Any of the photos I have from that trip only have a handful of people in the backgrounds, but I am sweating like crazy in all of them also!

I've heard the same.

I WISH I could go during this value time...but with school it's hard :(

I agree with tinkgrl1685; September is not what it used to be. "Free Dining" has changed things a lot. Heat, humidity, and rain are common for the month. "Free Dining" is nice though.

Have you considered early to mid November, after the Christmas decorations are up? Or possibly early December? The weather is usually much nice and crowds better. Once you go during Christmas time, you'll never want to go any other time of year.:)

Gone are the days of "dead parks." Man I miss those days. I think November/Feburary has become a couple of our favorite times to go so long as you avoid the holiday weekends. As mentioned, Free Dining can throw a kink into time periods you would expect to be "light crowds".

You guys are all so helpful!

One of the reasons we were planning for this time frame was to take advantage of the free dining. It's pretty much the only way we can afford to go. I know I'll never see "dead" again, especially with the new FLE, but it would be nice not to have to wait and hour for everything. ::Fingers crossed::

Been twice at that time. Heat was not a major issue but certainly warm (Not like July) and crowds were about a 6-7 (30-40 mins wait). Grab touring plans.com plan and you can avoid the majority of the nightmare. Otherwise its Disney. There are plenty of places to get cool and meet a new friend in line....Have a great time!
