Is There ANYTHING you Just Don't Like About Disney?

There is A Few on my side..

Disney Channel is a Headache of pointlessness...It was much better when their goal was to showcase everything from Walt Disney for the ENTIRE FAMILY..Not just the Tweens...Sure there was a few shows Like The Edison Twins, MMC plus the Kids shows Dumbo Circus, Welcome to Pooh Corner..Were way better. Then for the Adults they showed specials from the Disneyland TV show, Avonlea, Concerts like Trisha Yearwood Going Home and Mousterpiece Theater...I mean ABC Family tries to be like the old Disney Channel...But, It doesn't work.

ONE Disney Merchandise....I mean really taking the Cheap route for guest to buy the Same Jack Skellington "I'm Your Nightmare" Shirt in Every Park including DisneyQuest and the Waterparks is not what I call variety..What get's me more aggrivated is when you go to an Attractions store For example you go and Ride Space Mountain and you want a shirt to remember your ride so you get to the exit and enter the store...Only to find some Jack Sparrow & Cars 2 Finn McMissile toys in the store...Yeah..Just What I want...Crap!

ONE Disney/DisneyParks Name- I Hate it, Hate it, hate it! It's like it's being run by former higher ups from Six Flags Park..It's pathetic! It will make it worse if all the parks go all Polo/Khaki..And that will really start the torches to be lit.

ABC Family Channel....

Walt would roll over in his grave if he saw what was being presented to a young audience. I am no prude but I hate the fact that if we are watching something as innocent as say "Finding Nemo" that I have to change channels during the commercials so that my 9 year old DD is not exposed to the ilk of Pretty Little Liars or Secret Life. Sorry but at 9 she is not ready to process that type of input and I am not ready to have to try and explain it to her. There are those who would say "then don't let her watch it" which I do not, but having to protect her from commercials on the "Family Channel" seems ridiculous.

The only other real beef I have is the need to get ADR's. It is a pain if you want to eat anywhere within the parks for a sit down without ressies you have to walk around for an hour and a half with a pager that can only receive a page within a city block. Unless it is the Rose & Crown and you can walk around with a pint!:D

Love Disney and think that it is a great testament to the american spirit that Walt built it on!!!

My problem with Disney? Leaving and coming back to reality.

I guess another complaint would be the lack of unique merchandise. I love that sort of thing and Disney just misses the boat on this.

Of course I'd like new attractions, updates/upgrades to existing ones, but that's a different topic altogether.

I always wondered why an adult show like Secret Life was on the Family Channel. I watch it, but my boys age 8 shouldn't be exposed to it! The word "sex" is in just about every scene maybe 20 plus times or so, and now they've introduced gay couples. I love the show, but it's a bit like Adult Swim on the Cartoon network: it's for adults! (ex: King of the Hill). It's very difficult to explain these concepts to 8 year olds. I must confess though, I'm not quite "ready" to have the talk w/ them.:(
Switched at Birth is a well done show with excellent "exposure" to the deaf community and a fairly decent storyline. I guess all-in all we parents must decide what is right for our children to watch, and most importantly TALK to our kids about these issues that will inevitably come up sooner or later!

Yep- other guests.:( Unfortunately, there are just "mean" people in this world, even at WDW. I just smile at them w/ an understanding look, and hopefully their day will be better (doubt it though I try).
I absolutely love DISNEY! My family members think I'm nuts! We went to DOLLYWOOD last summer, very nice place in the midst of so much commercialism, and the "older" folks were working there. It's a slower pace there, and we didn't mind it. They were very kind to my Mom in a scooter (she's 72). But, there's still nothing like a Disney CM helping you/talking to you w/ that genuine smile and oh so happy to be working there! (most of the time).:D

Line cutters and the cast members/security who fail to enforce anything with this. In the same vein, people who are disruptive in attractions/shows. We all spend a lot of $ to go to WDW and while it's PATHETIC that there are enough iconsiderate delusional idiots in this world...but the usually non-confrontational response on WDW's part favors the idiots.

The themes of the deluxe resorts kind of bugs me. Don't get me wrong- places like the Poly and WL are pretty...but with the Poly prices...I decided I'd rather just go to Hawaii and get the real deal. And while WL is neat, I've stayed at the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone so WL was a bit of a let down to me. I know it's not that way for everyone, but considering I stayed in Yellowstone first- WL didn't have any kind of unique feeling to me and the wow factor (even though it is impressive) was diminished considerably. It's funny b/c out of all of them the Contemporary is the only one that doesn't bother me. I think I'd just like to see a deluxe resort more like the Disneyland hotel- where it just feels like Disney and not some other destination.

I hate that BatB is a roasting pan/steamer in the summer. It needs better ventilation or something. We went in August last year and it was the only spot that felt dangerously hot. It's the only time we really felt hot all trip. DH and I both vowed to never go again during the summer months.

I hate that WDW fans often confuse nostalgia for "better." I'm not saying everything in the parks today is an improvement, but I think it's horribly short sighted and kind of a personal partly distorted view of things to be so doom and gloom about the current state of the parks. Sure, I didn't go in the 70s, but my first trips were in the 80s and while there were many wonderful things about trips back then, there are also many things I'm glad have changed.

I hate that Epcot now feels a bit behind the times. I still like it, but it no longer feels like the tech marvel I loved. It used to feel so cutting edge, but it's like they've lost their true vision with the park. With all of the technological advances, you'd think we could see more cutting edge attractions.

I hate how illogical some of it is. There is so much attention paid to certain characters b/c of some warped perception on what makes $. Yeah- I know princesses are a cash cow and my girls love them too, but in all of their infinite "wisdom" they continue to miss the boat on character meals for boys and other popular characters from Pixar as well as Phineas & Ferb. The villains are also an opportunity they need to bring back in some capacity b/c there is also clearly demand even if it's not totally obvious.

I hate the whole lack of monorail service during EMH.

OK- I think I'll stop b/c now I'm getting annoyed.

I dont like that the humidity makes my hair look a mess in EVERY photo!

The distance to go and hassle to get there. Once I'm there I can deal with the crowds (including the Brazilians), the heat and humidity doesn't bother me as long as I'm prepared, and the cost is always going to be more than I would like it to be but I've saved enough to manage it. If only the travel could be less stressful.

i don't like the fact that Norway is the only Epcot country that doesn't have Disney representation. like seriously, it's just there, with a restaurant that has Princess meet and greets. literally that's the only thing Disney it has.

and that Finding Nemo Musical is in Dinoland. my OCD brain does not compute with the randomness.

and that Streets of America in MGM is just... EMPTY. there's nothing there! guuuurrrrrr

and also that Astro Orbiter is accessible on a third level, which makes it so terrifyingly off in the layout of Tomorrowland.

now that i think about these things really honestly do upset me... i never thought about it, but they really do!

Hmm. Well, I have definite problems with TDO and how the parks are being managed and the project developments (or lack thereof) but I don't usually try to think about those while I'm actually at WDW. For my "pet peeves" when I'm there, most of them have already been said

1) Flash photography. Especially when you can see what their photos look like and they look like crap, lol.

2) People who do not smoke in the designated areas. I help care for several little boys with some fairly bad asthma and allergies. Smoke sets them off so easily. Its not fun to have to sit them down to do an inhaler or nebulizer because some as*hole can't walk a little farther to the designated smoking areas. I hope Disney eventually decides to go smoke free as so many other places are.

3) Food. Or rather the food in comparison to the cost. The prices, for the most part, do not reflect the quality that you get. If the prices were lower, I'd probably say its fine but even at the signature restaurants, the cost is very often not worth the quality you get. Though I will say that's an issue at all theme parks, not just Disney.

4) I really enjoy meet and greets. Disney tearing down/replacing attractions is a huge issue for me. But for when im actually in the parks, its the lack of variety in characters that sometimes bothers me. Disney has such a vast array of characters and in the relative sense, the hardly use any of them. I like the fab 5 and the princesses but when they are my only choices, it gets a bit old after awhile.

What don't I like about Disney? Hmmm...while I was battling cancer for the last three years it buoyed my spirits while I was there and it gave me something to look forward to between trips. While there I had to use an ECV, I also have a failed hip replacement, and the jackasses who assume that because I happen to be a big man I'm too lazy to walk and who made idiotic comments with-in earshot really p!ss me off. Fortunetly, I'm a better man than they are so its water off a ducks back.

You are a better man than I!!! I would have pulled down the appropriate side of my shorts to let them see the scar and told them I would then accept their apology!!!
