hi,

I started another thread on the cost of disney, long story short i kept hearing it is cheaper to book a room only rate on site?? how so?

Do i look on the disney website, do i call? Today, for example on the disney web, all star music is $ 130. can i get it cheaper? I don't want packages, just the room. We are not planning to visit the parks but have a few ADR,s downtown, boardwalk and other resorts.

The reason I ask, we booked the Lake Buena Vista Palace and spa,i have re-read the reviews and now i am geeting nervous..people keep mentioning old and musty

cheers

Call and ask if their offering a room only discount for your dates and get a quote. Also, ask if All Star Music is the cheapest value resort at your time of travel. Discounts range from resort to resort.

Mousesavers is a great resource. They list all the discounts that are taking place. Sometimes you can go to disneys website and book directly buy other times you have to call and speak to someone. I'll see what the current promotions are.

Another vote for Mousesavers.com They are excellent at updating all the currently available deals AND explaining the quality and worth of those deals in pretty straight forward terms.

Unlike hotel rooms elsewhere, the rates for WDW resorts don't vary much. There is the posted rack rate which you see listed on the Disney website, any discount they may be running (may be 5-30% off rack) and that is about it. Once in a while sites like Orbitz or Expedia will offer discounted rooms. Working with a Disney specialist TA like KingdomKonsultants is usually the best way to know what discounts you may be eligible for.

You would have to compare the savings to see if it is worth it between the AP rate and the General Public discounts. Marie

Marie- As a travel agent do you get access to different prices or earlier access to promotions? And if you don't mind my asking, when people hire you, do they pay you above what their hotel costs or does disney provide some sort of payment?

Hi Brian, Not necessarily different pricing but we can see all of the discounts you might be eligible for. Also if a discount offer hasn't been released yet we do monitor your reservation for any up and coming discounts and contact Disney to apply that offer as soon as that discount is made official and can be applied.
As far as payment, Disney pays us a commission. Our services are free to our clients as our agency does not charge you to book your vacation room only or package booking.
Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them!! Marie

Use Priceline. That's what I did back in September for our stay at ASMusic and the room was about 12 bucks a night cheaper than through the WDW website.
