Is the Pop Century bridge blocked off?

I'll be staying at the resort during Thanksgiving, and I know about the whole Phase II thing, and I know that the bridge that connects the two areas is built, but can you cross it? If it's open, I'd like to kind of "explore" the other side! LOL

The Bridge IS built, but there is a built "structure" (Read: wooden wall built in middle of bridge) preventing passage more than about 1/3 of the way over the bridge. There are also big green gates on the access points on each side. It's pretty much impassable. Trust me: I was just there last week and tried.

I was there week before last, and you can walk all the way across the bridge, but then there is a 'dead-end' before being able to cross onto dry land. Still, it was nice to stroll across and imagine the possibilities.

The lake is shallow and full of vegetation. It looks in need of filling or dredging before the opening of phase II (which is still undetermined at this point). There are benches in several locations on the bridge. It looks nice.

You can always try the perimeter road... the gates are notorious for opening in the wind.....
Yup. I seem to remember that a much-loved :lookaroun Disney historian's site recently featured a pile o' pictures that they took one day when the gate was open and they felt like trespassing. :lookaroun

Could you provide a link?

Also, if you go to the top floor of the back 60's buildings, you can see a lot of the footings that are in, the main building, and a whole lot of otherness.

Was there last year...

As others said, the bridge does go all the way across.... the path fans out a little on the other side, about 15 feet wide. If I remember correctly it has the main path, and also a little circle path going left and right, partitioned by planters, with benches if I remember correctly.

We walked there during the day and watched wildlife... birds and fish.
At night its somewhat secluded/romantic.

The fence is wrought iron, about 6 feet high. There are bushes in front and behind it. I guess it would be possible to climb it... but there is a significant risk of slipping and cracking your head open.

Not unless they absolutely have to. Concrete prices have more than doubled since these slabs were poured. By Florida building code cracks in slab are allowed to be as much as 1/4" with and 1/8" height separation. If the cracks are within code you can bet they will build on it. Judging by the pictures it looks like the sidewalks will need to be redone but there are no really good pictures of the existing building slabs to determine if they would still be usable.
