Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

I recall the days when people would ask why is it being painted pink, and the CM response was "There will be a pink cake party soon."

The worst was knowing that there was a layer of pink paint left under the normal white/gray after the 25th ended. They may have eventually scraped every layer down to it's natural color, but there were scratch marks on a turret on the Wishing Well side that penetrated down to the pink layer as of 2010.

I remember the very first guide maps made it a point to show the huge Mickey. My brother pointed that out to me which is how I found out about it!

its the only fresh feeling in the entire park. all elsewhere is just buildings and pavement.
The long walk up to Fantasmic is all trees :D

I agree though, I have been following the Hub expansion thread and think it's funny how it's been mentioned that the new hub is concrete-centric. Then you look at the area in front of the Theater, take away the hat, add a stage, and it has an even higher percentage of concrete to natural surroundings than the MK does. It needs that little pond nearby.

Is it safe to say that the majority of this board is nostalgic in every way? Would you really miss the pond or is it hard to let go of our fond Disney memories? Seems as though every change is viewed as a negative. Admittedly some of these new changes make me scratch my head, we simply can't have the original Disney as we experienced when we were kids.

This post hits it. It truly does seem that every change is seen as a negative or this board finds something negative to focus on.

I don't see an overwhelming number of people who want to save the pond (assuming it really is going away). You will always find at least one or two people who are really attached to something.

Change that fails to improve upon what it replaced tends to build that impression. Do it repeatedly and people begin to believe it before something even has a chance. Replace instead of expand... and people will often hold a grudge against something for taking something else away.

You act like this is some Disney thing... it's this way for everything. If you keep screwing things up over and over - you'll build a rep for screwing things up and even your successes will be questioned.
