I have it on good word (my cousin's friend is a dental hygienist who heard this from a Disney bus driver who was just waking up after having his wisdom teeth extracted, says he knows a boat driver with insider info) that the top of the hat is still sitting there because it's going to be trucked over to Wilderness Lodge and re-purposed as a Teepee Villa.

No. Town Square Theater is still called the same but no theater. When Disney destroyed Toontown Fair a spot for Mickey and the Princesses to M&G was needed. They ripped out the theater and made the M&G area for Mickey and previously the Princess and now for Mickey and Tiink where the theater used to be located. The former theater lobby is for Photo Pass pictures and FP+ service center.
Logic by Disney of late. A theater that is not a theater and a Main Street Bakery that is no longer a bakery. The beat goes on.

Kinda weird to see - the silhouette of the hat against fireworks has become somewhat iconic, even if fireworks are only sometimes at the Studios.
