Can the moderators please just change the title of this thread so everybody can stop requesting that it be changed?

Noooo! I want the title to stay for years, it's got to the point where this thread itself is a classic attraction. Even when the discussion is all outrage over the giant Olaf or whatever they announce to replace the hat, it will still be cool to have the old threat title we remember from our childhoods!

All the hat fanboys are hanging out on Facebook. So many people upset "but it's an icon","why are they taking it down", "what will goin its place?", "I hope it's still there when I go in 2 weeks". Ugh.
I actually had a full blown argument with a lady yesterday because she didn't understand why so many people care about the hat. When I said it's because it's ugly and outstayed it's welcome, she said I should be giving thoughts to all the starving children.
it ended getting nasty, I called her a hypocrite because she obviously cared enough to post, then she called me a double hypocrite for calling her a hypocrite.

Facebookers eh.

So yeah, I'm guessing nothing happened last night? There's nowt on the Twitters.

I decided to drive over and pay my last respects. Nothing going on today. I tried to get some different angles.

The structure is very dusty from all of the cutting.

The fun thing to do it seems from my observations is to pose in front with a pouty face. I did not partake, however.

I didn't realize how much of the inside of the brim was gone. They did make some big progress in the 4 days they have worked on the actual hat. Thanks for uploading!

People say "Tower of Terror is the new Icon you cant see the Earful tower any more," but since those trees behind the hat have been down its been much more visible. Also there's a Tot at 4 of the 5 disney resorts around the world so that wouldn't work. Pretty soon we will see both the theater and the Earful tower in one shot!

Just wanted to put this out there. A Photopass photographer was stationed in front of GMR for a brief amount of time yesterday. I was actually able to get my photo in front of GMR.

That is awesome! A sign of hope.

Who needs Oscar viewing parties, the day the last piece of hat disappears households across the nation will be holding get togethers to watch classic MGM movies, drink copious toasts to the hat's demise, and wear pointed party hats which they symbolically burn them at the end of the night.

Don't you wish they would televise the final section being removed?

Facebook is for two things:
- Pay attention to me.
- Press the like button (i.e. I paid attention to you)

I tried having thoughtful conversations on there and finally gave up. You have to post something vacuous and inane to properly participate on Facebook. A proper comment would have been:
"That sure is a big hat! LOL!"

Never go deeper than something like that.

The amount of crazies on Facebook ... sigh. Not even in regards to Disney, but many other things and I just shake my head at some comments because half of them make no sense and don't relate at all to what was posted. Comments in articles on websites are the same thing.
