Probably worn off paint.
Here's another one (I could look at every angle and not get bored):
It looks like Mickey flicked the top off & it slid down
That wall in the way is so deceiving as to the actual size of the piece. It's huge.
I am betting the stars will come off right before each section is dismantled. This is very exciting indeed.
Disney may be missing a great promotional moment here with the hat being sliced apart and a potential SW land on the way... The question is, in the promo video, would it be the rebels or the empire taking down the hat?
My favorite part of all this... is change. For too long the parks have been sitting stagnant, not too different than Tomorrowland. At least by the next visit for most of us we'll see a visual difference in both DHS and MK.
AK is hiding it's changes all behind lots and lots of walls, so we can only hope we'll see good changes there. And Poor EPCOT... you shall remain in your empty, but well fed, misery for a bit longer.
Mike, I'm with you about change. That's what keeps me going back to WDW. There are always new things to see and do.
In what alternate universe are you visiting WDW?, DL sure but WDW - home of the 'closed for refurbishment' sign???
another shot this morning floating around - apparently it's now a megaphone for the cheerleading competitions
Well, while I get that, I keep seeing the Horizons demolition in my head (yes I know.. totally different structure) and can't help but think that if it's being done at night, they really could get it done quicker. I'm not saying do it without method or in a careless way that damages something (though either way they will have to repair the concrete all around it I'm sure), but it sure seems that taking it down piece by piece, a little at a time, implies that maybe it isn't just going to the dumpster.deconstruction is methodical. if you dont do things in the proper order, without haste, you are going to have a BAD TIME. they do not wish to damage the concrete, so they carefully pick each section off to be carted away. i'll bet they just got that cone off before daybreak, and did not have time to roll in a flatbed and get it loaded and offsite and the crane struck before the parking lots opened... and first thing tonight likely is removal of the loose parts that they pulled last night, then on to new business.

That's no moon. It's a sorcerers hat.
