My dream is a complete overnight surprise removal. Seeing it gone in the morning would be the perfect motivation to finish the last 3 miles of the marathon.

Don't expect much to happen this weekend due to the Marathon. People will be running and people will be getting their last photos with the hat during the event.

Frankly I was surprised they didn't just wait until Monday to start taking it down.
I heard a rumor from one of the bus drivers that they aren't really removing it; they are just going to power wash it...

Why would the marathon impact this work, it's being done by an outside contractor?

The marathon is run at night and goes right past the hat. Contractors running equipment and personel across the stage is bad show as well as a safety concern.

I know SOME work was done since the walls went up, clearly, but at the same time, why didn't they just wait until after the marathon weekend was over to throw up walls and start doing things? I'm not impatient over it coming down, it will and it will be glorious to see that thing gone, but, even with timeframes set, I don't understand why they do the things they do sometimes.

The art deco detail work on the construction walls gives me a little but of hope. Or are these just leftover walls shipped in after DCA's redo?
If I'm not mistaken, that design is taken from the ceiling inside the lobby of the Chinese Theater. And with the wall being in the center of the park I'm not surprised that they spruced up the plain wall a bit.
(Edit: Whoops, went to find a pic and maybe it's the lobby ceiling detail in Tower of Terror I was thinking of...)

If that's the definition we're going with for "temporary", then I guess the Old Poly Fountain was temporary too, huh?
Think how long New Fantasyland took to build. WDW time is like inverse dog years - one year of their time is seven of ours, so by TDO's thinking the hat was only up for a couple of years, and thus was temporary!

Would it make sense at all for them to relocate BAH to the Fantasmic area? I mean, I won't stand in the way of the sticks of dynamite or the launch into space but realistically...
