99% of what get's said here holds no water - so maybe Earful Tower should be the weenie for this board.... why not move the tower toward the entrance. It holds no water.

That attitude is why the audience has been so destructive for Walt Disney World. They're more concerned with what they already know. Thus they expect a Disney theme park to be only a series of already known images, not new and unique. But for everyone of those that realize it there's 10 waiting to jump down your throat for suggesting it should come down. Trust me, i've been down this road.
I want it to come down as much as anyone else. It makes no sense, but it could just be as simple as memories of coming to the park and seeing it there that people get attached too. They don't want to see these things go, even when they make little sense.
I think by what the have done and committed to at this point, the studio/movie/entertainment theme will continue and since it would be difficult to pick just one IP to make into the Icon. The general message conveyed by the Water Tower is the best option. If the new theme won't be a "studios" theme, what's the big deal about the water tower? How would the water tower even be relevant? Maybe I'm missing something. I don't get it.
You also have to remember that the name has not been released yet. The Hollywood Adventure is just as much a figment of imagination as, well, Figment. It was one of us that thought it would be a good name. Not me, btw, but others. Just made up by a poster as a suggestion, not Disney. Even then Hollywood and studio's go together like peanut butter and jam.Thanks. That makes sense. I just remember hearing idea of that "Hollywood Adventure" and things like that, and all the talk just seemed like the theme would be more "Hollywood" and the "studio" thing would be abandoned. That's why I was confused. But I see what you mean.
True, but isn't that true of both sides of this discussion. Those that would like it to stay and those that want it gone have exactly the same motivation. That is to keep it with known images, not new and unique ones. That attitude is why the audience has been so destructive for Walt Disney World. They're more concerned with what they already know. It's all about branding and the theater is going to be rebranded as the TCM Theater:I must be the only person on the planet who thinks the Chinese Theater is UGLY.
Except their aren't discussions of a serious, Golden Age of Hollywood replacement for the Chinese Theater. The closest is ideas the replace it with the Carthay Circle, but this is because it is more "Disney" and not its association with Hollywood.True, but isn't that true of both sides of this discussion. Does the Imagineer who led the design the thing count?Forgive me if this has been posted somewhere before, but I've been wondering something for awhile now. When the hat was originally constructed was it ever officially said by Disney anywhere that it was supposed to be temporary or is that just an assumption that came with it being constructed for the 100 years of magic? For the record, I am pleased to see it finally going but am just curious about this.

Jim Korkis who is a Disney historian worked at the studios at the time and he was told it was going to be temporary. Obviously it wasn't.Forgive me if this has been posted somewhere before, but I've been wondering something for awhile now. A thread on the BAH is not the place to discuss John Carter.

Studios already has a Carthay Circle Theater. It's on Sunset Boulevard. Plus Chinese Theater hosted the premiere of Mary Poppins and Jungle Book.Except their aren't discussions of a serious, Golden Age of Hollywood replacement for the Chinese Theater. Those premiers are rather irrelevant to why the Chinese Theater was chosen.Studios already has a Carthay Circle Theater. It's on Sunset Boulevard. Plus Chinese Theater hosted the premiere of Mary Poppins and Jungle Book.
True, but I'm just saying there's a connection and one that ties the inside to the outside, what with the Poppins show scene. Those premiers are rather irrelevant to why the Chinese Theater was chosen.
Of course, because the real reason is because it appeared in Blazing Saddles. Those premiers are rather irrelevant to why the Chinese Theater was chosen.
As did The Wizard of Oz. If the Armchair Imagineer favorite of adding Star Wars came to be, it would also have that connection. The Chinese Theater has hosted more Hollywood premiers than any other venue.True, but I'm just saying there's a connection and one that ties the inside to the outside, what with the Poppins show scene.
Yup. Hell, it hosted this wonderful film as Toho wanted the 50th Anniversary/temporary retirement of the King to be as grand as possible. As did The Wizard of Oz. If the Armchair Imagineer favorite of adding Star Wars came to be, it would also have that connection. The Chinese Theater has hosted more Hollywood premiers than any other venue.
Yep, but Disney sort of trained their guests to be this way too with the way they market their parks. Instead of giving guests what they don't know they want, they just give them more of the same these days. That attitude is why the audience has been so destructive for Walt Disney World. They're more concerned with what they already know. Thus they expect a Disney theme park to be only a series of already known images, not new and unique.
