Personally I think if it were being relocated we would have already seen permits filed to prepare the new foundation. I suspect it will be sold for scrap and if a hat needs to be put some where else it will be a new structure.

Mixed emotions here...I'm happy to see the hat go and never was a fan, but was hoping to see it one more time when I'm there next week. Unless they perform some incredible destructive instant removal magic, it might stay in place for a few days after the closing date. And even if not, then I suppose it might be cool to snap some photos of it coming down, so that's kinda exciting.

My biggest concern: Where will the Citizens of Hollywood Cavalcade of Stars take place while the hat's coming down? The CoH are a highlight of our visits to DHS, so I hope it's not called off while the hat's being removed. Per the Disney website, it's still scheduled to take place at 10:30am on both Jan 7th and 9th (the days we'll be there) "right in front of the Sorcerer's Hat".
