I'm heading to MGM for my first day of our next Disney World Vacation! But.. the problem is.. we need a place to eat there... and we are looking at the 50s Prime Time Cafe.

Anyone here think its worth doing? I'm concerned with the food quality??

Yes, it's alot of fun.

The food is what I call "comfort food."
Nothing fancy, more along the lines of stuff you mother/grandmother made.

The 50's Prime Time Cafe was one of the more memorable things from my honeymoon a few years ago. You have to go into it with the spirit of playing along with the wait staff, but if you do, its a blast. Food is nothing fancy, but definitely good. I'm looking forward to taking the family there again on our next trip.

The food here was very good......the milkshakes are just too good! :slurp:

Comfort food with large servings. We were all a bit hot and tired so didn't get as much out of the atmoshere as we could have, but would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun experience and good food.

My family loves this restaurant! It's a lot of fun, it has good food and the cool theming can't be beat. Definately make an advanced seating for this restaurant.

It's great, we go regularly on each vacation. I've had a few birthday meals there too b/c it is all around fun, and we like the chicken, meatloaf, steak, milkshakes, and vegetables!!

I like it - it's a fun atmosphere, but like someone said - if you don't like character involvement, skip it. Kids will love it because the waitresses pick on you and really get into their role. The food is only OK. Depends on what you're looking for.

If you just want to relax and take in the atmosphere, I would vote for the Sci-Fi. Brown Derby has a little bit better food, but not as fun for the kids. And I actually was surprised to find that Mama Melroses (italian) had pretty good food.

I'm planning on going there for my birthday in October. Can you give me an idea of what I might expect?

I love the 50s prime time cafe! It has the best theming! While you are waiting for your table, you go to your "living room" with a black & white tv and sofas to sit on. Then you are shown to your table where you have to set your own table (put the silverware and napkins at each place). While you are waiting for your food they have you look at your dessert selections on a plastic viewfinder. It is all really funny!:) And the wait staff plays as if you are all family & will yell at you if you misbehave.:) It's all done in fun, though, and if you don't seem interested, they will not be as hard on you.

The food is not bad, but if you have young kids they may not like it. The last time I went there was a few years ago, and there were three young kids at the nearest table. They got very upset in the environment and didn't really understand. Because you're in the 50's, you have to eat like you're in the 50's. No elbows on the table, waiters getting on your case for not eating vegetables or other things, and the airplane thing, etc.

There were 3 of us in our party when we went so we got the top 3 most recommended entrees (from what I've seen people rave about on all the boards). Meatloaf, Fried Chicken & Pot Roast. Dh LOVED the pot roast, his best friend loved the fried chicken... my meatloaf was ok. I make it with a lot more kick so that's what I'm used to. For being a plain jane meatloaf it was good. It's definately worth it.
