Is Spaceship Earth rally that bad

Our last trip was our first at experiencing the new version. We didn't think it was that bad, and thought it did a great job at capturing our faces. The ability to email the film to yourself afterwards is great too, we still watch it every once and a while.

That being said, we only rode SSE once that trip. I can imagine that our next trip, were we will have enough time to ride it a few times, that it will get really old really fast.

I love the screens and animation.

I don't like the nothingness around it.

I mean, put more stars in or something...The last part has them, but the turnaround area has squat to look at.

Started great, never finished it...Not the end of the world some people make it out to be though, the descent was never the most elaborately decorated scene to begin with.

I actually have started to enjoy the music score now, so that's not an issue.

I wish the script was as smart as the Irons or Cronkite scripts, Judy Densch isn't the problem. The far reaching analogies to the modern age are laughable ("the world's first back-up system" etc.)

The show scenes, however are very nice, new AA's are great, all except for the go-go dancer in the large computer room.

The descent is terrible...nothing high-tech or unique, nothing to look at besides the super-bright screens of foolishness.

I don't know. The one time I went on the updated SSE, my DD hit the Chinese language button. Guess what? There is no reset to select a new language after it has been selected. Want to talk about a very wasteful 20 minutes?

lol friends of mine did that and were so mad at themselves. I accidentally hit my knuckle off of the middle of the Atlantic Ocean for my location once. At the end when the little marker shows where everyone lives, mine shot straight into the ocean. :)

I don't mind the new ride. I miss the fiber optics and the old music, but have no problems with the new stuff either. I think the new ending is fun. I always loved the "choose your ending" kind of thing on attractions. I think it was Horizons that used to do that? I always missed it. Spaceship Earth is still my favorite attraction at Epcot.

After hearing the English version you might prefer that.

As for the original poster these are the problems with it.
*Dumbed-down Narration
*Roman chariot projection off
*The censoring of Renaissance Art
*Paper Boy with his back to you
*Ticket Woman reading newspaper on the job
*Go-Go Dancer working on Mainframe Computer
*The unfinished 'un-inspiring totally out of place descent

There is nothing wrong with the LCD and polling system - indeed it is very clever and fitting of Epcot - but the option should be there to look around you too at lovely eye candy. Not empty black spaces. Like Space Mountain the additions improved the attraction from the previous version, but so much more should - and would have - been added if they hadn`t have stopped short.

Indeed. It's very EPCOT Center as you get to create your "future" but the presentation and lack of detail AROUND you reeks of Epcot...and of course of TDO.

Go Go dancer working on the comp.? I get what the problem is, but I think they wanted it like that as a reflection of the time. ie the 70s. But I can see how it messes up the idea of being at work.

If the Go-Go Dancer is a complaint this "big", then I feel your complaints are way too misplaced or heavy. It's just a costume. It doesn't change the effect or quality of the attraction. You want something to harp on, it's the unfinished and dusty descent.

I did not know this could be emailed!!!! How do you do this? I have never seen the option to do it.

I am OK with the changes. I am bewildered by the computer worker's outfit being criticized though. That outfit is pretty chic for the 70s.

To email it to someone, I think you just use one of the kiosks immediately after the ride.

I love it now because of the video at the end. We laughed so hard and actually rode it more than once on our last trip.

They just need to do some more work in ending. Its quite inspiring and great ride. The ascent is fantastic.

Really... all I want back is a mesmerizing light display at the end and the city to coma back. I see the shapes on the celling and hope they are light effects like the old days and I hope they work soon. I could care less about the sets at the end I just miss the lights.

One time I was blowing my nose and that was my face on the screen. Little did I know I would show up on the sphere screen. I almost died.

The first 2/3 of the attraction is what Disney was all about.

The last 3rd is what Disney in Orlando is all about today. Such a waste. The comparisson I use is imagine if the Haunted Mansion was as great as it is today, up until the graveyard. Imagine this huge area empty with no props, no lighting and no AAs, and just a screen in the Omnimover to look at. That is what they did to SSE.

Agreed like you said 2/3's of the ride is Disney at its best. The ending is everything that is wrong with Disney and imo is a disgrace.
