There's a fire complaints going around about spaceship Earths new music and ending. There also has been complaints about the new voice. To be honest I miss the old ending and especially the city scene as much as the next guy but I dont resent the changes. I do wish they would finish the ending and turn on those light effects, bring back the city and I have to say there is things I miss about the old music but this new music reaches the pit of my stomach to. It seems more formal to me. I just dont get the resentment and I am still not sure about those screens.

I think the extensive freshening the first half of the ride received is great, and I think the blue starfield effect leaving 180 top is super cool. The decent isn't as interesting as it should be, but I'm not ready to throw the whole attraction under the bus because of it.

I definitely miss the old music, as it was very well done and did a great job painting a period-specific backdrop to each scene. I'm willing to give the new soundtrack a chance, but both times I've ridden the new Spaceship Earth the music was WAY too quiet. I think the new narration's fine. Different, but fine. It's less like going on an adventure (like the Irons versions) and more like getting a 5th grade class field trip through time, but the overall effect isn't very much different really.

Spaceship Earth is still my favorite attraction at EPCOT.

You know I should thank god more often that it is still there and almost at its original glory every time I see it. I like its new background track, it's not bad. It's funny I started appreciating the ride more than ever before it changed. I wish I got to know the ride more by heart before that happened.

Well, it's no substitute for actually riding it, but the Irons version of Spaceship Earth is one of the best documented attractions as far as available video and source audio go, so it's still possible to "virtually" ride it whenever you want. I listen to the music track on my computer all the time, and the Jeff Lang video is a frequent guest in my DVD player.

I agree that it's almost unbelievable Spaceship Earth has survived to the degree it has...

The first 2/3 of the attraction is what Disney was all about.

The last 3rd is what Disney in Orlando is all about today. Such a waste. The comparisson I use is imagine if the Haunted Mansion was as great as it is today, up until the graveyard. Imagine this huge area empty with no props, no lighting and no AAs, and just a screen in the Omnimover to look at. That is what they did to SSE.

I don't know. The one time I went on the updated SSE, my DD hit the Chinese language button. Guess what? There is no reset to select a new language after it has been selected. Want to talk about a very wasteful 20 minutes?

When the attraction reopened, and I read all of the discussions here, I thought "Hmm, it doesn't seem that good." I also held off on viewing video of it. But then I rode the attraction in June '09 a couple of times, in August '09 a few times and again this past December. I really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed seeing my parents get a chuckle out of it in December, something that unfortunately doesn't happen to often. That just added to the experience.

It goes to show that what one reads online can skew the way one thinks.

Not at all. It's still a great ride, imersive, informative, and entertaining. The quality of the ascent is quite inspiring. They just need to finish the ending.

Still my favorite attraction, even though it does not compare to SSE94

The work on the beginning is great. I enjoy judi dench just as much as i enjoyed jeremy irons. i like having a new voice - mix it up.

The first few rides I thought the video at the end was a cop-out...but now I think it's pretty cool.
Plus, it's always fun to ride it in another language and attempt to do the quiz/video at the end in Japanese.

Yep.. still mine too. It probably always will due to the memories of when I was a child. :D

I feel like I'm the only one who liked Walter the best. His voice made everything seem grand/bigger than life.

In the new version the AA's are bad a$$. Also, even though it's different, I get a kick out of the descent. My wife and kids like the ending better.

I suppose, I've really enjoyed all the versions of SSE over the years.

In a word, no. I'll agree I liked the old ending better and miss it, but there is nothing wrong with the new ending. It's the most unique out of all the incarnations, and is without a doubt the most popular. I don't see people sleeping on sse as much, and I think thats owed to the new ending. Some people just have a hard time letting go, and I can understand that. But this isn't the HM or the MK. The new ending fits in epcot, and people enjoy it.

My wife doesn't like this attraction. The kids and I like it. Sure it's changed over the years but it's still a must see for us.

I really liked the ending! We all busted out laughing when we saw our heads on the little bodies, I makes me laugh just thinking about it. LOL!

There is nothing wrong with the LCD and polling system - indeed it is very clever and fitting of Epcot - but the option should be there to look around you too at lovely eye candy. Not empty black spaces. Like Space Mountain the additions improved the attraction from the previous version, but so much more should - and would have - been added if they hadn`t have stopped short.
