Is Soarin always like this?

Its incredible. I was there alst October and there was just a continuous stampede of people pouring into the pavillion non stop. And this was around noon. The Soarin entrance is really poorly placed, it should be on the second level and the Fastpass machines should be at the entrance of the pavillion.

Ugh, let them go for it...less people while I enjoy Epcot. My honest opinion about Soarin is that it's never worth a wait more than 20 minutes

Then you'll never get to ride it! :lol: I've never seen the line less than 50mins.

If they put the FP machines at the entrance of the pavilion, they would most likely run out faster than they do already. Plus, it would create an even bigger traffic jam with people trying to get into the pavilion and those stopping for a FP.

Sounds like a good idea! I'd really like them to do something to the entrance. The area is a mosh pit with Soarin', the exit to LWTL, and the stairs out!

I always run to soarin as soon as I got to Epcot to get a fast pass. If you do standby on Soarin, you'll never get on.

It is exactly like this at Hollywood Studios. We were there at opening on 1/6/11 - you get into the park and then wait with the crowd. We had a plan - head right to Toy Story Mania - my son would head right to Fast Pass. Well as the crowd all merged right that way - it seemed everyone did the same thing. The good thing we only waited about 15 minutes and actually rode Toy Story Mania twice that day. The thing that made me mad was my son got in line to get fast passes and got stuck behind a Cast Member who was getting over 50 Fast Passes for a Brazilian Tour group. She let my son get our four fast passes, but I found that very unfair that large groups get to eat up all the fast passes.

I found the large tour groups to be the rudest groups of people in the park!

It must be right after the park opened. After about 2 hours into the day I would say that the land pavilion is PACKED with people at tables and such. This is how many people wait in line in that VERY wide queue, the line would probably be a little faster if it wasn't so wide. But I guess the reason it's so wide is because as many people come in (like these people) so they dont tak up the food area. Soain' is over-rated and I would have to say it's more of a D ticket and not an E. Yet, I admire it a little just for the amount of people it holds and doesn't cause a huge stand-by wait for other attractions at epcot. That is one advantage this attraction had, from food rocks was a walk-on. Yet it was a decent show. They should have put Soarin' in the Wonders of Life pavilion and leave Food Rocks alone, after all WOL is now just waisted space and it would have been a great place for a huge queue with all that space...

I'm always amused at people who will stand in line for 30 minutes to get a FP for TSMM for a return time HOURS later, when they could get in line and be done within an hour! And the FP for Soarin' isn't much better. Even after the merge point it's about a 15 minute wait (if not longer).

I wouldn't race to Soarin to wait on that line LOL. I only ride that if I have a fast pass.

I swear, Soarin' is one of the most overrated rides at WDW. I agree with WoL, it's more of a D-ticket than an E.

Every park has one or two of "those" rides that see a mass of people head over to be first in line, get a FP, or even both. Nothing good or bad about it, just the popularity of the rides themselves.......

are the people on this site the only ones who don't run right for Soarin' at park opening? I agree that while it's a good attraction, definitely never worth a 70-80 minute wait...nor would I wait in that line like cattle going into a slaughter house..

I would much rather ride Test Track (even in it's current condition) right at park opening.

Just because a ton of people head there for Fastpasses and it post an hour plus wait most of the day, doesn't mean that it's popular and people like it. It's obviously because of one of three situations:

1. It only lets on 3 people an hour. So there are really only 10 people in line.

2. Fastpass screws up the wait times. Everyone knows that in the days before FP, waits were routinely in the negative numbers. You would actually gain time on attractions and if you weren't careful would end the day before the park actually opened, run into yourself at the turnstile and create a temporal paradox that would destroy the universe.

3. TDO hates you. Not really sure what that has to do with Soarin', but it seems like it will come up eventually.

Or you're correct and it is actually popular and people here are extrapolating their own opinions and assumptions of the average guest into ill-informed and bias opinions with no real basis in fact...

if your looking to go on Soarin either go during the EMH at night, get there right as the park opens and run there or get a FASTPASS

I really don't see the point in the ride having that big of a crowd at opening. It is by no means as popular as TSMM. Those fast passes were gone by 9:30 last time we went. One day later we went to Epcot and we got fast passes for Soarin at 5:30 for 7:30. Yes the line is normally long but the fastpasses don't go as fast.
