Is Reflections of Earth the longest running Fireworks show out of all Disney parks?

You can disagree, that is totally fine. Everybody likes different things, I just thing a show that can tell a complex story like ROE outdoes a show that is just a bunch of Disney movie clips, like WOC. WOC and the other shows are still GREAT shows by all means, but I just think ROE is better.

Does anyone else remember or even prefer the original Illuminations? I saw a "soft opening" performance of the original show while on a trip in high school in January, 1988. I loved that each country got its own moment and the lights and projections made each pavilion look like something else (for example, the American pavilion became the Capitol Building.) This was long before digital projection mapping that is so popular now. While I enjoy the current show, I would be ok with changing it up a bit.

ROE is actually turning 16, this year. It opened in September of 1999.

And long may it reign. It's the best firework show in any American Disney park... and yes, I think it beats out Disneyland Forever and World of Color. Original music and a grander scale can do that. :)

Fantasy in the Sky is the longest running Disney park firework show.
I think they changed up the music a few times, though, right? I know WDW has had several versions of FitS. Same name, different music and shells and effects.

Also... Fantasmic in DL beats out ROE by a few years, if we are counting that.

I agree with most here, ROE should stay but be given some big upgrades with the fountains, lights, and projectors Disney now has in its arsenal. The softer middle section with the globe images could be greatly enhanced with WOC-like fountain effects keeping the feel of the original, but with more interest and drama.

Now to feed the troll... Check out some videos of DLP's nighttime show. Disneyland Forever is a good show, but when it comes to Disney clip-style fireworks shows Disney Dreams still is the best. Fountains, fire, castle projections and fireworks hands down beats Forever's cute props.

It's starting to age. But it's much, much better than anything I would trust Disney to come up with for Epcot these days. I really don't think Disney understands Epcot at a thematic level anymore.

On top of that, Illuminations' score may never be matched. I think Disney's best bet would be to keep the same soundtrack, try out a new concept besides the sphere (or in addition to it), and upgrade some of the fountain and shell effects to modern standards.
Even the preshow music is awesome

Reflections of Earth is one of the most boring night time shows Disney has to offer. Granted when it premiered in 1999 it was amazing but almost the same exact show has been playing since then. After seeing what other resorts around the world have to offer for their nighttime shows it seems extremely dated. Part of the problem I have always had with RoE is the fact that almost half the show is just watching the globe spin (you can barely make out whats on the screens from most of the viewing areas). It is time for RoE to make way for a new show.
What about the music score? It's one of those songs heard at Disney Parks which is hard to top compared to other nighttime shows. I remember hearing parts of RoE serving as sorta an unofficial theme for Epcot during the 2000's (Especially during the 100 Years Of Magic Celebration) which alot of old WDW planning videos from the early 2000's would use when ever Epcot is brought up. It was even heard for Epcot's 30th Anniversary presentation.

Reflections of Earth continues to be the hallmark of Disney nighttime entertainment and the enhancements over the last year proves that. Disney never has and never will be able to create a show to rival this masterpiece.
I always love hearing "Promise" being played after the show is over and the guests start leaving the park. It feels like a fitting farewell to visitors.

RoE is no Fantasmic! That is to say, it's not all about fun, magic, or Disney characters. But I think it's a masterpiece. I don't think it's any better or worse than Fan, just more high-brow. Less concrete, more symbolic. And I'm always an emotional wreck during the finale.

I've seen Disney Dreams in person many times and while it is spectacular (one of my all time favorite Disney spectaculars) it is not a fireworks show. The projections and fountains are the stars of that show with a considerable amount of low level pyro added on. Disneyland Forever is a full fledged firework show with projections in a supporting role and the two are not really comparable IMO.

If you haven't seen the show in the past year then you might be in for a surprise. There's a thread on changes that have been occurring to the hardware of the show. The introduction of new lasers make certain parts of the show feel brand new. After seeing the show last July and then watching it this year I was blown away.

I vaguely remember the show that preceded IROE as a kid but enjoy the current show and music over the previous iteration.

I remember that so well, I also remember having to wait for all the countries to light for the fireworks to start. Overtime they put those lasers into spastic mode I knew the fireworks were about to start. I was so used to that show when I first saw Reflections of Earth I thought something went wrong and that we were all about to be evacuated. After a few seconds after I then started to realize it was a different show all together.

If you think it's just another fireworks show you are truly missing the point. Listen to the words of we go on and look at the faces of those in the crowd who understand the meaning, those who "get it" and you will understand

There's no show like ROE, it tells a real world story in an amazing way. It's not easy to create and put on a show like that. It's symbolic and just as amazing as any olimpics opening ceremony show. Not to mention it's also a light show. Water images on a water screen with movie clips is easy and simple, add a few fountains and your done. Add continent shaped screens on a spinning globe power them up not to mention this is all on a barge, open it up and reveal a torch. Outside of Epcot you have to wait every 2 years to see a show like that. Illuminations is more complex then paint the night.

Logistics and technology wise it's amazing it ever plays.

The new lasers add another layer to the regular show and beef some of the slower parts too.

The shows still doing okay considering its won the Golden Ticket Award every year since 2005.

I hope it lasts for many more years. I absolutely love it, and the music makes me want to go out and do great things.
