Is POFQ As Good As It Looks?

Last fall, we stayed at POR for the first time-our first non-Value resort overall. The first evening we were there, we walked along the Sassagoula to POFQ, had a few beignets, and walked around the resort a little bit. We loved the layout, theming and the atmosphere at POFQ, but it was obviously a small sample size. We are planning on staying there during our next trip in 2019. For those of you who have stayed there, is the resort as a whole as good over an extended stay as we thought it might be during our short tour of it? The cobblestone "streets", the lamps, the horse and buggy-it was amazing. Are there any drawbacks to POFQ? Is the bus service good there? Is the QS breakfast food good? Any info would be appreciated, as we do have other Moderate resort options if POFQ isn't as good as advertised.

We stayed in May 2016 and return in 31 days #excited. We were there for 14 nights

We loved it. This was our first on site hotel in disney (husband used to work for a large hotel chain so we had staff rates else where) and we would struggle not to say on site again

On arrival check in was quick and easy our room was in the furthest corner by the river but to be truthful the walk was all of 3mins max. The rooms were dark where we were but all rooms have been refurbed recently and the pictures show the rooms to be much lighter.

Noise - this hotel felt very exclusive and quiet. The pool was lovely with the big slide and the hot tub. Talking of pool (sorry but I am a mum and find this important) next to it was a laundry which was brilliant for doing a long stay wash load and dry before we came home all while we were in the pool.

The evening felt "romantic" well as romantic as it can with a 9 year old with you !! but we would take a stroll through the street with their subtle lighting over to the grass area where they were showing the princess and the frog - wonderful night.

One night they held a mardi gras where children danced and played games and were given beads etc

The boat to disney springs was 3 mins from the furthest point.

BUS - this is a big bonus - there is only one stop so you are not waiting for a full bus to arrive at your stop because they have picked up at other stops previously.

BF - QS mickey waffles egg bacon links ideal but we found out a trick in that for 60 cents you could have 2 slices of toast and jelly so we sometimes had that and used QS credit in the park. This was also nice if you wanted a post park snack.

I cannot wait to return my mum will be staying at POR at the same time so it will be lovely to compare them when we are there

We adore POFQ! It is our favorite moderate with POR a close 2nd. You really can't beat the size and having one bus stop. POFQ park bus lines are generally the shortest the of all the ones we've seen at the end of the night.

The only negative to POFQ is really the food court but in every other way it surpasses Riverside to us. And since we can walk to Riverside or take the boat to DS, thats never impacted our stay. The food court isn't bad... it just doesn't match Riverside's.

We recently started staying deluxe but FQ is absolute my favorite if I really had to choose.

My family stayed at POFQ last May during Memorial Day weekend. Loved the atmosphere and "feel" of the resort. It was our first time here as usually we stay at Coronado. The only complaints we had was the food court is small compared to Coronado but the food we did have there was good and it's not a long walk to POR if you want something FQ doesn't have. Giftshop is very basic and smaller to other resorts I've stayed at. We had bad luck in the day we scheduled to bum around at Disney Springs and go swimming, the power went out which mean we couldn't eat there or use the pool, so it was really crowded at POR when we got there. No one's fault but it was a bummer regardless. I'd personally do Coronado over FQ but that's because I love CS so much, FQ would be my second choice for sure.

The cast members are not the friendliest...this has been our experience on more than one occasion. So much so, that when we stay Moderate, we switched to Caribbean Beach Resort and it's a world of difference. Much more accommodating and welcoming. Just our experience, but we visit about 4 x a year and POFQ used to be our go-to Moderate. No more.

Can I ask how busy it is over memorial weekend ? When we booked it we didn't realise it was over this time so am thinking of spending some down time this weekend if it is too busy. Also am a little shopaholic and have heard there are great sales in the shops at this time - do I take my birthday money with me and go on a spree? Sorry slightly off topic but am excited

We booked before we realized it was the holiday weekend due to our schedule with stuff at home. Hotel itself wasn't that bad itself. We stayed along the river and it was very quiet. Food court at it's busiest there was still open tables. The area where food is ordered is small so it can get very crowded. Buses were busier at park openings/closings but 10-11am-ish you're really only waiting with 6-10 other people. We usually go in early May when the weather is not as humid and there's lighter crowds so that was a surprise, as well as Pandora opened that weekend. There were some rides we just avoided entirely but since we go at least once a year, we weren't about waiting in every line. Disney Springs was a zoo. We kind of went there, did our thing and left.

Your comments are exactly mine as well.

We had a 7 night stay there in March 17'. We loved, loved, loved it! It was our second moderate & now the fave! It is quaint & quiet. Close to everything. A nice walk to Riverside to catch a carriage ride. The kids loved the pool & splash area. The food court is good, but can be a bit crowded. Most mornings we grabbed a table or bench outside.

Had a co-worker who just stayed there and got back a few days ago said the room she got at POFQ had bed bugs. The staff wasn't very friendly either but did get them another room. Its also the not the first time I've heard about this resort having bed bugs.

We went in February of this year and it was our first time at that resort. We loved it. The staff was very friendly to us and we also a refurbished room. The room was so nice and it was very quiet. Plus, we could walk to the POR or take the water taxi to Disney Springs. I would love to stay there again and probably will.

We absolutely love POFQ - it's our go-to moderate! The resort if much smaller than POR, it's usually very quiet, and it's gorgeous! The bus service is decent - I don't really think any of the resorts have "good" bus service and the QS options are always great! I vote POFQ!! :D

Unfortunately, that is the nature of the hotel business. If you look up Disney resorts and bed bugs, its pretty much evenly spread across all of them. Its not fun and I feel for your friend but it happens.

I can say, I believe the unfriendly staff part. My last stay at FQ the staff was not really helpful but I had hoped I just got a bit of bad luck. :(

This is our farvorite moderate place to stay. Been there 2009 - 2012 - 2013- 2015. Love the small size. No room is too far from the pool or main building. Only one bus stop. If you stay in building 4 or 5 bus stop is just a short walk. Boat to Disney Spring. They show Disney movies on the lawn at night. Have a fire pit that you can make smores. Walk along the river or hire a horse draw carriage. The only negative I have heard is no table service restaurant. It is only a short walk up to Riverside to go to Boatwrights.
