Is Plaza Restaurant worth it?

Hi All,

What are your thoughts on the Plaza Restaurant? Is it worth a TS credit?

DH and I will be at MK and enjoying EMH and we need a place for dinner. I used to like LT, only because of the characters, we have CRT for Bfast, and we have CP for dinner one other night. We ate at Tony's last trip.

I know we can monorail over to a resort, but we are trying to try something new.

What are your thoughts?

If you have Free Dining and aren't overly worried about getting the best bang for your buck, then I'd say it's good. I've eaten there a few times, and enjoyed it, though the menu choices aren't that fancy.

But if you're paying for the Dining Plan, you might want to pay out-of-pocket for it and use the credit elsewhere. (At least that's what I'd do)

Good Point. I do have free dining. But i'm still pretty conscience about the bang for your buck. So i'm not sure if I should make it or not. hmmmm....

Mostly only sandwiches

I agree w/the previous poster. The Plaza is nice for late night atmosphere (fireworks),but not much of a menu choice.:animwink:

The Plaza is a standard sandwich and all-american meal type place--- the food is good, it's decent for theme park, and the ice cream desserts are very good...

Your measure of "worth it" is just that -- is it a fancy restaurant where you get great bang for your dining plan buck? No. I might pay out of pocket for this one.

But it's relatively quiet -- the food is good, and you can actually relax for a meal without kids screaming in your ear and no characters.

Oh why can't Be Your Guest be open (said shaking my fist dramatically) :brick:

Is it easy to grab a table for a walk up? Maybe if we want a late night burger or something but I don't think I want to make an ADR.

It depends on when you go....busy times of year, nope, it's booked as solid as anything else....Quieter times of year, yeah, but not without a wait...

This is probably one of the smallest sit-down restaurants anywhere on property. It actually tends to get busy for dinner and anytime during the evening, because it is directly on the parade route...

Just make the ADR's...nothing lost, and possibly a lot gained...

We avoided eating there because it's not a great eal when you are on the dining plan. We ate there on our last trip because we didn't have the dining plan, and it was really, really good. I had the Philly Cheessteak, and I thought it was great. The tomato soup was also excellent. My DH and I split a browniw sundae and still couldn't finish it.

I would definitely try it even if you end up paying out of pocket.

I will be on the free dining plan in september and booked The Plaza for dinner the first night since its evening EMH and wanted to try something new.. I decided that this meal I will pay out of pocket for since the menu prices look lower than most and it gave me an extra credit to use for another meal at my favorite, Kona Cafe so I can have both breakfast and dinner there during my stay. :slurp:

Not really worth using a credit for. We do enjoy eating at Plaza but we usually pay for it and then use the dining credit somewhere else. The sandwiches and ice cream are really good, but if you need a credit for somewhere else it is worth while to eat here and pay for it.

I'm on free dining and do have an ADR for the Plaza but I will be paying out of pocket. Similarly, I will also be hitting Beaches And Cream and will be paying out of pocket to eat there too.

I'll be using those credits on signature dining instead of burgers and shakes.

Thanks everyone! I went ahead and made an ADR for dinner. We will be paying out of pocket and not be using a dining plan credit.

There are a few sit down restaurants inexpensive enough that it's worth saving the credit for either a Signature meal or one of the more expensive breakfast buffets like the Epcot Princess Breakfast. Plaza is one of those restaurants, as is Trail's End at Fort Wilderness, Kona Cafe, Grand Floridian Cafe.
