Is Phil of the Future Over For Good?

I haven't been really following this show. But a few days ago I saw a Phil of the Future episode where Keely and Phil date each other, the father finally fixes the time machine (for real!) and Phil has to leave Keely behind. While time traveling, Phil begs his dad to go back to our present time and have a few more minutes to say good-bye to Keely properly. He goes to his school, finds her, confesses his true feelings for her, kisses her on the school's morning announcements and then finally leaves. At the very end, the family realizes they have to "back up" in time, because they forgot Kurtis the Caveman....

Then the episode just ended. No "To Be Continued" or anything....Was this the series finale? It didn't seem Disney made a big deal of it if it truly was the end? :veryconfu

I hope that it wasn't. I think that they would have announced it somehow. I hope that it wasn't the end. But that is a good question!

I haven't heard about any new episodes of Phil of the Future, Disney is mostly concentrating on Raven, Hannah Montanna, and their new The Replacements. It could be that the show has ended. If it truly is over, do you all think it was because of low ratings and popularity, or it had reached its rumored, so-called "65 episode limit" that the Disney Channel has on all shows?

After 43 episodes, it does appear that Disney has cancelled POTF.

At least from what I can tell from IMDB.

Found this (doubt that it will work though):http://www.savedisneyshows.org/phil/

And from Amy Bruckner's (Pim Diffy) blog http://www.amybruckner.com/amysblog.htm

Hey Everyone!

As my first post I just wanted to confirm all the rumors... "Phil of the Future" is cancelled. I wanted to say thank you to all the fans who have watched thus far and hopefully will continue watching. Disney said the reason for "Phil" not going a third season was that, because it was vastly successful, they could either go ahead with another season or they could take the money that they made on "Phil" and make a new show with it. Which, in my opinion, doesn't make much sense. I will really miss working with my faux family, Raviv, Lise, Craig and J.P. as well as much of the guest cast and the tremendous crew. Even though the show has ended the experience was well worth it. I learned many things and got to meet a lot of people that have made an impact on my life; and let me tell you, that certainly includes fans. Thank you to everyone who took the time to make such awesome websites. Thank you for the zillions of fanletters I have received. I promise to eventually answer all of them. And thank you for simply watching the show. You guys rock our socks!!!!!!!!

Peace and Mucho Love,
Amy

Wow! So it is true. I thought the show was well-recieved, although I'm sure shows like Raven trumped it in ratings but I guess Disney had their own plans.

It is kind of sad!
I personally don't think that The Replacements is that good of a show and I don't think that they should get rid of some of the better shows for little cartoons. I wish that they hadn't gotten rid of Phil of the Future!

I really liked that show (at age 23  ). I'll be sad to see it go, but more excited to see 'Phil' do more adult roles and see how he turns out around age 20. ;) :slurp:

Interesting. First of all, I had no idea that Phil was done. I don't watch the show religiously, but if it's on, I stop and watch.

Second, I had no idea that there was a Save Disney Shows website (I doubt that they really make a difference anyway). I was clicking around on the website, and found that The Suite Life is on "hiatus". Now that's depressing to me! I love that show (and yes, I'm 23).

Thanks for the link, I'll be checking it to see what comes of my favorite Disney shows.

Just because it is on Hiatus, The Suite Life might not be completely over yet. They are still releasing new episodes, like then new Dancing With the Stars show coming soon. They might just be taking a break so other actors can doing other projects, like Ashley Tisdale, who plays Maddie, can work on High School Musical 2.

Maybe it is just me, but does it seem like some of the more recent live action shows on Disney channel haven't been up to par like many of the ones before. By the way, I'm not talking about Hannah Montana. I'm talking about Naturally Sadie and Life With Derek. Don't get me wrong, they aren't bad shows, but I just don't think that they are as good as some of the other ones. And considering that (I think) both of them are already on a second season, I really don't think that it is fair for Phil of the Future. Sorry if you don't agree with me. That is just my opinion!

Let me go ahead and say this before I get any complaints...
I'm sorry if I offended anybody in any way or if Naturally Sadie or Life With Derek are anybody's favorite shows. Sorry!
And by the way, I have one little question. Is it just me or does it seem like they have dumbed down some of the characters on Life With Derek? In the first season Kasey (spelling?) was very smart and always seemed really organized but now, she seems like she has let loose a little bit and it seems like the character acts a little dumber. What do you think?

It seems like they are playing more "Phil" on TV now that it is cancelled, but it could be my imagination.

That could be true that they retooled the shows. I've noticed that on Naturally, Sadie, Sade is less plain and more glamed up. They even did this in the beginning of other Disney shows like Even Stevens, where Louis no longer has a one-on-one conversation to the audience and Lizzie McGuire used to focus more on "girl" problems, if you know what I mean.

But the reason the the Disney shows you mentioned may not be like on what the others are is because both "Derek" and "Sadie" are shows made from Canada, now shown here in America. It seems Disney has gotten really cheap lately as now most shows on Disney, especially Playhouse Disney are from either Canada, or Austrailia.

You are probably right about why the shows don't seem as good to me. And, yeah, both of those shows have made the main characters turn more "normal". Thanks for the feedback!

That is what I figured.
Or, it may just be that they are off for the summer and about to get back started. They may just be on vacation.

I wish I could start a 'bring back Even Stevens' petition that would do any good. I really, really liked that show. Can anyone tell me what the final episode in that series was? I don't ever recall getting any closure...

That is a good question!
Does anybody know a really good site where they list all of the Disney Channel shows and the episodes of each one. By the way, does anybody else remember Under the Umbrella Tree?
